AMC 2009: 10/12 A Scores?

^Haha yeah, I went a little overboard, the second half of my list is for USAMO prep.

how hard is it to score an 11 on the AIME? compared to 105 on the AMC 12

^I'd say 10 times harder.

Last year, only one person with a 105 received an AIME score of 11.

Take a look at this:

Posting for DS (asleep now ) :)
121.5 8th grade (fingers crossed he did not screw up while marking his answer sheet) ;)

^Was that on the AMC 10 or 12?

10 ;).......

Most likely that person was having a bad amc day...

Are they really being honest when they say that pre-calc is enough for the AMC12? And the AIME? I know it isn't true for the USAMO because I don't believe most students are even taught all of the notation used in the sample solutions.

How does everyone get their scores so quickly

Pre-calc is enough for the AMC, AIME, and USAMO, no calculus is involved. As far as the notation is concerned, all of it is "pre-calculus" material, regardless of whether they teach it at schools or not.

My teacher didn't give me my answer sheet back. . . .

You're supposed to circle your answers on your test booklet and then check against the answeres online.

I don't know what this is.

Thanks for the book suggestions everyone. I think I'll just go with aops 1 and 2 along with some previous tests. I ordered aops yesterday with priority mail so I can start studying next week. I think two books are sufficient because I only have a month-ish to study.

Edit: Uh... Can I find past AIME's online? Sorry about all the questions, but I have no idea about what the hell I'm doing lol.

AIME Problems and Solutions - AoPSWiki

Yup, the answers were posted on the MAA website yesterday.

102 - 12th Grade - 12A - in 10th i missed the cutoff by 3 points (for AMC 10), last year was an epic fail and i got like a 50 on the AMC 12 ;p

First from my school to qualify for AIME! SWEEET!

hopefully I didn't missbubble lol

^lol that would really really suck....

I think I got around 70 ish, without any practice, going in cold on the AMC 10A. Not bad I'd say, but compared to others, that's another story, lol
