AMC 2009: 10/12 A Scores?

127.5 12A (12th grade)

I did have a cold and emptied a sinus on the answer page, and I'm hoping to do a bit better on the B. Last chance for USAMO.

I'm thinking I'll need at least a 7 or 8 on the AIME, last year only got 5.

Or if I fail for USAMO Q, TIME TO STUDY FOR THE MFing PUTNAM

^Damn, that's pretty good for having a cold.

So did anyone get official scores yet?

Just barely discovered this thread… I’m a sophomore, but the school had me take AMC12A… I took the AMC10A last year, but never found out what I got; this year I scored 88.5, which apparently was only scored by one other sophomore here in the State of Utah… Tie for first, I guess?

Well, I got my official score of 75 for the AMC 10A, which was actually the highest in the school for the AMC 10, which is odd, but I’m ok with it. I didn’t do any preparation for it, so I’m gonna actually prepare for it next year. Not bad by my standards, but for CC standards, that’s different.

Honestly, take the test twice and sorry to say, but being the best in your state means nothing, for example, in stuyvesant high school alone, 13 kids took the USAMO. that’s 5.2% of the entire USAMO test takers. that means a considerably larger amount of kids took AMC 12 (and AMC 10 if they did exceptionally well) and from there, those who did exceptionally well on the AIME, then went on to take the USAMO.

I think it’s stupid they give an award to the top student in each school, when a few hundred kids in one school could/should get the award had they been in another school.

^^Sorry for my ranting, but all this competition based on your limited environment really ticks me as a NYer, where competition is much rougher.
