american pageant check in!

I use the Enduring Vision, and we're on ch. 21. That's ch. 30 in The American Pageant.

We're stopping at Ch.28 for finals, and use the 11th Edition.

And I do agree with another post here, that Thomas Bailey uses way too many metaphors.

For all you guys who have the American Pageant: what was the exact wording about the invention of the car? I remember back in my sophomore year of high school my class was laughing about it. I think people thought it was "a whorehouse on wheels"?

Currently on WWI (about Pg. 700)

do you guys have to write papers or do projects for your ap class?

oh and smurfette, the wording is:

What might young people get up to in the privacy of a closed-top Model T? An Indiana juvenile court judge voiced parents' worst fears when he condemned the automobile as "a house of prostitution on wheels."

Thanks! I remember my teacher saying something about if you read the book after 7 pm, you'll fall asleep, so they threw that line in the book! :-P

All the time. We don't do many projects (not enough time), but we definitely write alot. Usually, it's one FRQ or DBQ per week in addition to some other writing assignments.

yeah we have had to write some essays out of part 3 of the guidebook, but we havent actually done any ap test writing. it will probably end up being like my world history class last year.....during the three days before the ap exam, we learned about one ap essay each day.

we are on ch. 27...just about to hit wwI

"Anyone else think that the American Pageant makes too many strange metaphors?"
ya i hate those lame metaphors

do we have to do projects?? YES! our teacher is seriously crazy. she gives so many projects that she spends her entire like winter/summer/breaks and weekends just grading everything. SHES CRAZY!

we're reviewing 23-26 and test soon

ch. 29 by next week

we are on chapter 31 now.

We just finished Chapter 29. But our school uses pageant edition 11

our teacher gives us on average 35 ID's to do every night and we take a test on 4 chapters every week. it doesn't get any crazier than that, kids.

what is id's?

vocab terms, except you're required to write a paragraph for each. they don't help us in the least bit, yet she expects us to do them and grades them.

Chapter 36...

all we do is study, take notes, look at films on the stuff we are looking at, discuss as a class, DBQ, Multiple Choice test, then new chapter, and look at my favorite political cartoons.
