American University Regular Decision 2023

@TravelMom402 I had assumed that was for the 18-19 application process, not the school year, but you may be right. It just seems odd that your honors merit is only 15k. My daughter got a 20k award, but nothing on honors.

@njmom18 and @TravelMom402 - my son also applied to honors and received a deans scholarship but no mention of honors in the acceptance letter.

In the very least they should acknowledge that a student applied but didnā€™t get into the program so the kids arenā€™t just left wondering. I can understand that getting back to almost 20,000 people is an incredible feat of organization, but it all seems a bit haphazard. Maybe they should think about portal decisions to make this easier and less stressful for everyone!

Still nothing in mail in MA. Guess itā€™s a NO but would be nice to know and move on.

Havenā€™t received anything in the mail in South Florida but I did get the email saying congrats on admission. Iā€™m wondering how I can see if I was accepted to Honors/ any merit scholarships ?

@NJMom18 @TravelMom402 - I believe American has changed their merit to a high of $22k (aside from FDDS). I was also told by Admissions that they were doubling the size of the Honors program for next year, though it doesnā€™t seem like it by those posting.

nothing in CT!! can we assume if we donā€™t get the welcome to AU email and not being able to create an account as a no? because I havenā€™t been able to create an account for 2-3 days now and havenā€™t received an email.

I actually got waitlisted oof. The yield protection is real this year.

Does anyone know if there are other admitted student days beyond April12? Iā€™ve been looking on the website and having trouble finding info.

Package finally arrived today in Chicago with notification of $18K Presidential scholarship for S19.

What do yaā€™ll know about the fall mentor ship opportunity?

Maybe I read into this wrong during the application period, however, I thought that American did not base admissions on intended major? I thought that they accepted based on your application and not what school/major you applied to. Is this correct?

@penny1234 I found this link regarding the fall mentor-ship opportunity.

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/american-university/1975674-american-university-mentorship-program.html

Essentially, it states that these studentsā€™ applications show they are strong and that American trusts them to be in the mentor-ship program. However, I am having trouble with believing this as my academic stats are fairly low. If anyone has additional information, let me know!(:

Package finally arrived in Northern California for my daughter, who I noted previously received an email on Thursday for a local event.

Happy to report sheā€™s been accepted into the Honors Program

@napafoli - congrats!

My package finally came today as well (Northern VA area so dont know why it took so long), but I got into the honors program as well!! Does anyone know how much money is given for Honors

@mcunerd - congrats to you too!

to anyone who got accepted- did all of you receive emails and/or was able to log in to the portal?

@ cravingchipotle My daughter could not logon for several days, and only received an email noting her admission because of a local event on Thursday. The acceptance package was mailed out Tuesday and was delayed by our local mail delivery until Saturday, FYI. Love your username

@Napafolie are those local events in your home state or states next to you? i live in CT so I would assume if there was an event in NY or MA they wouldā€™ve emailed me by now. and ty!! chiptole has been a comfort food for me the past couple of days lol

@ cravingchipotle Love it!

From what Iā€™ve read, the acceptance emails tend to be graphically limited by distance-meaning I donā€™t think everybody is getting them with a reference to the nearest event, and instead are received by only those within a certain perimeter. But thatā€™s just my best guess based on some earlier posts I saw. Best of luck!
