American University Regular Decision Class of 2019

Mail came in Northern Virginia and nothing from American. I’m assuming nobody will get it today.

^they might send letters to the furthest places first and the closest places last so that everyone gets them around the same time. They said that they won’t send them all at once.

@ercs1997‌ are you a student abroad? I am and I received my acceptance March 3rd for SIS

I just got my acceptance packet in the mail. I have a question though. I was accepted into the Honors Program, and the website says people in the Honors Program get 20,000$ a year. In my acceptance packet it says they awarded me the Presidential scholarship for 20,000$ a year. Are these two separate scholarships that would end up totaling 40,000$ altogether, or are they the same scholarship meaning I’d only get $20,000? (I’m from Kansas btw)

Nothing in the mail here in NJ , but I would be shocked if my daughter got accepted. Good luck everyone !

@templarassasin‌ it is only one $20K merit award (Presidential) for Honors. Plus, if you qualify for FA, you will get whatever you get there as well if your EFC is lower than total cost - $20K.

Also, in order to stem the tide of stress on this forum, I assume you already got an email last week about your acceptance and this is just the package following up, right?

Yep, I got an e-mail last week, this is just the follow up package

Thanks, you just cut off 40 posts of speculation of whether or not you are part of the “huddled masses”!!!

I thought that AU said they were mailing the letters ( no emails from what I gathered ) starting today. I know that the wait is try difficult , especially when you read that some students have received their decision . I think all letters or emails should go out simultaneously , not by major or if the applicant is international

@lje62‌ if you’ve been following this thread, they sent out acceptances for honors and other special applied-for programs last week via email. Those are the only ones who have heard. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to wait for snail mail.

Yes, Cameron121…I see that. As a parent who has been through this process before ( two other times in the last 10 years ) I find it frustrating with the the inconsistancy of how the various schools release their decisions. IMO opinion, there isn’t any one demographic that deserves priority over another.
It’s unfair to the applicants who are waiting to know and are not accepted into honors or int’l students.
It shouldn’t be that difficult to let everyone know at the same time, at least if they are notified via email or portal ( at least within a margin of how long it takes to notify within a few hours )

FWIW, my daughter’s application at AU will most likely be denied so the news will not be unexpected. She has, on the other hand received denial and had to wait longer than others…and a school that wait listed her actually requested WE contact them to get that news…ouch

@stilchs4‌ yes I am. Havent received any mail, only email.

Thought so - me too

@lje62‌ I hear you on that. This is our first time through, and it amazes me how everyone differs in how they notify. And yes, some of the ways you find out really suck. I hope your daughter finds the place that is right for her, it seems that after all the stress, most people do. Good luck, I don’t think it will be much longer for AU…

Okay I know this is really over thinking it but do acceptances come in a bigger envelope or a regular size?

Accepted Regular Decision!(:

Where are you located?

@Cameron121 I’m in North Carolina (:

Congrats! That’s some quick mail service!
