Amherst Transfers

Can some nice brave soul please volunteer to call the admission office to find out when exactly the transfer decisions will be sent out?
I’m too afraid to call!

I asked yesterday for my admissions decision over the phone. They said it would be fine, but the person I needed to speak to wasn’t there. I’m calling after class today

Did they say you have to speak to E. Garcia?

are the decisions already made??

I called and talked to E. Garcia. I asked if I can get my admissions decision over the phone. He had me verify my information, and he told me that decisions depend on how many Freshmen confirm their spots. He said that letters will be sent out to transfer students this Friday, but he told me that “it looks good” for me and that they found me “very impressive.” Needless to say I freaked out, but it’s not official until Friday. He said he would call me to confirm. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

OCC, congrats!!!

Sooo, I don’t know if this means anything, but when you go to the Amherst website and click room draw, and then click dorms. It’ll then ask you for your login name and password. I put my username and password from the application status website, and it worked. Right now I’m accessing “My Amherst.” Maybe it’s a little cheat to see if you’ve been accepted.

this is so freaky, but i can login too!!!

Were you able to do that before? Do you see your portal? Cause mine even shows Political Science under my interests.

oh nah…this is just common for all applicants:

Welcome to the newly updated “My Amherst” for applicants to Amherst College

As an applicant to Amherst, you can use your “My Amherst” page to explore all aspects of the Amherst community. If you indicated in your application particular academic or co-curricular areas of interest, you will find “My Interests” links related to these programs. If you have applied for financial aid, you should check your “My Amherst” page regularly for notices from the Office of Financial Aid regarding your financial aid application. If you receive a letter of admission from the college, you will want to review the “Programs for Admitted Students” Web page to learn about upcoming events. Finally, if you have any questions about using your “My Amherst” page, please feel free to contact Joy St. John (jpstjohn@amherst.edu) in the Office of Admission.

awww, that’s kinda sad. I thought we were in! Is Amherst your first choice?

yeah it’s pretty much my top choice. i’d choose amherst over most ivy leagues.

Think it’s silly I’m contemplating going to Georgetown instead? But I’m a government major. I’m torn.

well, georgetown is in D.C., so that’s a big plus. i heard from my friends that politicians visit georgetown all the time. you might also have an easier time finding internships at georgetown. but you’ll get more faculty attention in amherst as a political science major.

I got myself accepted to Amherst. I’ll be transferring in the Fall.

I’ll be living off campus with my wife (I’m 25) and I won’t really know anyone. If others of you get accepted, let me know and I’ll be your friend.

How did you find out?

we can call the office today to get our decision results, right?

ish. I called on wednesday and they said they would tell us over the phone if we dont hear by the 13th.

OCC,

I’ve known since March actually. I was one of the few early admit transfers, probably because of my veteran’s status (they just started an alumni fund for us). Admissions asked me not to make any public announcements back then to spare their office a flood of telephone calls. Out of respect, I didn’t say anything until now.

That’s fantastic, jaykoblives.

juenatics, call and tell them you need to know because you need to respond to another school very soon. Then they’ll tell you over the phone. At least that was the case for me.
