AMSCO vs Essential Content vs REA Prep Course?

I really need help. I need to buy a prep book for AP US History. EVERYBODY is saying to with AMSCO, but the problems i have with it is that it's selling for around 35 bucks. My family isn't doing great. I've also had gotten recommendations to go towards either the Essential Content and the REA Prep Course. What do you guys recommend for me? If i have to purchase AMSCO, I will.

BTW the book i end up buying will also be the book I use to prep for SAT 2 US History.

Thanks a lot guuuuys

AMSCO has all you need for APUSH, but (speaking from personal experience) doesn’t cover the odd details of the SAT2.
I discovered Essential Contents the day after my SAT2 and if I had studied from that instead, I would not have canceled my score. It does not, however, give you much info to work with on the essays than AMSCO.
REA is so thin… I didn’t use it, but my friends who did use it (and not AMSCO) received a 4 max.

Best bet is to get AMSCO for the AP and Essential Content as a supplement and for the SAT2.
Also, the PDF version of AMSCO can be downloaded off their website for free.
Best of luck.

Like attribute said, AMSCO is all you need. However, it is a big book.
I used Direct Hits and it is basically an abridged version of the AMSCO book.
