Hello all, I'm sorry for another one of these posts but my counselor couldn't offer me any information about McGill, other than what I've read on the internet/McGill website.

Weighted GPA: 3.7/4.0
Class Rank: top 50%, Class Size: 1300
ACT: 30
I will be taking the following AP tests: Art History, American Government, Psychology, and French. I have taken numerous Honors and AP classes.

I will apply for the Arts program!

My first two years of high school were horrendous as I was in an abusive relationship (physically and verbally abusive), suffered from severe depression and self mutiliation, and my parents are going through an extremely messy divorce. If I were to send a letter explaining my situation to the admissions office also containing a letter from my social worker would that be taken into consideration?

besides the class rank, which is surprising considering your gpa, you seem fine. unfortunately, i don’t think mcgill takes anything into account other than grades and scores. sorry but you look like you have a decent shot!

Good news and bad news.
Your unweighted GPA is more important than your weighted GPA.
But, here’s very good news for you: grade 9 marks aren’t considered.

noahtavlin: thanks for your input, and at my school the highest gpa is a 4.8 and you have to have over a 4.0 to be in the top 30%… very frustrating :/

sebcartwright: unfortunately my unweighted gpa isn’t that great but thank you anyway, and the fact that my grade 9 scores won’t be considered is a huge relief, thank you!

for arts you generally need an average of around an 86 or 88 depends on the year. That’s how Canadian high schools do averages.

I’m American got in, with around a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 28 on my ACT so good luck
