i have 800 M in SAT I
but only a 780 iic, does this look bad?

yea... sure, if you go by percentiles as the 780 isn't very impressive in %'s but still... it's impressive... i know i contradicted myself, but it's how i feel

Any given day there will be some variance. I wouldn't stress about it. I had a 700 M SAT I the first time I took it, and I knew I should have gotten higher, so I retook it 6 months later without studying and got a 790. Granted, I was really tired the first time I took it and I had been in statistics that year, which really doesn't require much math.

dude chill, a 780 is great even with the 800

It looks horrible. You should be ashamed of yourself. You should just quit now and just go to a community college, because an 800 SAT I and a 780 IIc is just embarassing.

Seriously, where do you people come from?!

it says they're location under the user name
personally i am from virginia

I think the question was rhetorical; asked in thse sense to sarcastically imply that the person is an overachiever and that the score is sufficient.

If I only had a 780 I would probably be too embarrassed to go to school anymore, especially to apply to any top schools in the country. I would most likely go straight to community college and then work once I finish my 2yrs.

It looks pretty bad. It indicates that although you have mastered simple math material that appears on the SAT I, you tend to make errors when encountered with more difficult mathematics.

wrong... The IIC isnt an aptitude test, like the SAT I. They are 2 different tests.. testing 2 different things. NOONE will interpret those score as being bad at math, b/c you obviously arent, they will see high scores and know you are good at math, the end.

but look at the curve for the math ii, it's pretty generous

Honestly i would study the material and try to get 800. Im sure you can if youre scoring 780 already.

if you are looking into a math profession id say definitely retake it for the 800. but dont do it if you think you just barely got that 780. because then you might do worse and that would look bad. otherwise, dont worry, if you dont want to major in something math related, then your mastering of general math (sat math) is very impressive, and 780 isnt exactly low (if anything should bother you its the percentile but who cares)
that was my pathetic attempt at giving advice lol

i agree with ilovemath314159. retake it if only you're going into a math related field. besides, the math portion on the sat I covers only up to first or second year of algebra while math IIC covers up to pre-calculus.

don't fret though, your scores are great :)

I had the opposite of you....800 IIc and 780 Math (SAT I)

800 IIC is a lot easier to get than 800 SAT I. Idk if its alright to retake a 780 IIC, but I would definitely do it, while I woudln't retake a 780 Math SAT I

I'd retake it.

ummm i got a 770 match 2c and a 800 sat 1 and colleges dont seem to care so i dont think they will care at all lol

Even though iic is extremely easy (because of the curve), colleges will just see that you are an aptitude math person more than a knowing stuff math person. but only by an infinitesimal margin. They would get worried if you had 800 SAT I and 650 SAT iic

I would say that, if you're going to be taking more SAT IIs, or retaking some others, you might as well tack the IIC onto the same day, but otherwise don't worry about it. I seriously doubt it will affect your admissions.

From a personal pride standpoint, at least, it would be worth retaking... getting a 780 means you missed quite a few questions (over 10% if one curve I saw is correct); it's not a matter of a careless error or two like it would be on the SAT I. But once again, don't go out of your way to mend your ego.
