An Extremely Unlikely Chance?

Bangladesh, Living in New York City.

Going to Apply To CAS

Transcript Avg = 94.3
2nd marking period grades came out avg: 98.6 (expecting over 100 3rd quarter)
Rank= 11/642? not finalized yet, but top 2 %

SAT I:

M-690 Cr-490 W-600 (superscored highest, i know its sad)

SAT II:
Math II - 680
Physics - 550 (took college physics, but never finished curriculum)

my highschool is not that competitive, but im in a pre med program
and have taken extra "pre-med" classes such as

Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Laboratory, and Microbiology.

Ap classes Taking/Taken:

Ap USH, Ap Composition, Ap Calculus AB, Ap Literature, Ap Biology
+College now Physics (3.7 gpa from the college, 8 credit course)

every other class i took was honors, so i have the most rigorous course load.

Recommendations: There going to be excellent, from my physics teacher who is the Assistant Principal of Science.

Essays: going to be great

EC's:

its a whole lot to name, but i do have a lot and all to my advantage.
some include::

-Student Government - Delegate
-District Attorney's Advisory Council
-Arista Honors Society
-Pre-Med Club/Committee
-JV bowling - won award (MVP)
-Case Study Initiative internship - with a doctor who graduated from my highschool.
- Starting projects in school and fund rasing to help organizations: (ex. Darfur, Leukemia and lymphoma, AIDS, Pre mature babies)
-Leadership class - where i get a lott of my EC's

In addition ive probably done every single type of "walk" that we were aware of and helping raise money for (Aids walk, Lupus walk, March of dimes etc..)

Theres a lot more i listed on my application, just not coming to mind now.

Im interested in Pre-Med, probably with majoring in "Pre-Med", Chemistry or Physics.

Last year my school sent 1 girl to NYU HEOP, and another one was deffered then rejected.

THANKS!

Your GPA def. give you an advantage, although your SAT I might drag you down. How'd you do in AP Bio?

ahem, sorry for the grammatical error if anyone notices

its ok lol, its the internet man! well ap bio 1st marking period got a 91 (which calculates over 100 weighted) and 90 2nd semester, i did a lot of extra credit which my teacher (who cant really teach her first year yet won a siemens award =_=) said she will add 3rd mrking period, when i hand in mid year reports which means im probably looking at 95+

try and retake SAT I

^ going to be too late, and i already took it twice, thats the highest of my 2. Im not going to bother even if i did have time because i have a lot of things to do at school and i know im not going to study.

Give it a shot, you might get GSPed. Everything besides your SAT is great!

^ thanks can u pm me on more info about GSP? i know im not eligible for heop, but in the case i do get gsp will it look bad to first get an associate?

gsp is general studies program. it's a two-year liberal arts-concentrated curriculum usually offered to cas applicants, although other schools have had students take it also. you do not apply to gsp, but the adcom offers it as an alternative to guaranteed four-year admission to a "select few" who show strong gpa's but weaker sat scores. basically, kids who take this are only guaranteed for two years, but if they maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative gpa at the end of the two years, they can continue their studies at the school at which they'd originally applied. but if they don't, they're screwed.
to me, it sounds like a way for the school to keep up their avg stats and look prestigious while making the extra bucks. idk that's just my two cents.

hope that helped.

^ Hmm that helps, So someone who is in GSP, lets say they maintain a 3.0, if they get into CAS will they possibly get any aid if they maintain very strong gpas throughout the 2 years?

also what if after the 2 years there gpa is less than 3.0, are they still able to apply to other schools?

I guess one thing for me is, i dont want something to show on my report that says, Associate from NYU, then BS from NYU, i just want BS from nyu. (ofcourse, if by any chance im admitted)

you get the same exact diploma as everyone else graduating from cas. no one will ever know.
as for aid, i'm sure they will regard you in the same manner as everyone else, but you might want to call up the admissions office and check.

hmm alright hen i wouldn't mind going. Thanks a lot, but i have i have some chance of getting in my scores are far too low. Do they still require an interview?
