Should I take Math I, Math II, and Chemistry ? Or should i take Math II, Physics, and Chemistry?

For me, i'm a Singaporean btw, I'm MUCH better in my math than physics. Just to give you a rough estimate, i usually score 90+ for my math in school exams but around 70+ for my physics. However, both are considered an A grade. Frankly speaking, having looked through the guide books, there's a high chance of getting an 800 for math I, but only about 750 for physics.

I would like to know these schools, HYPMS, brown, cornell, and caltech would rather see an 800 in Math I or an 800 in Physics?

Hope that you guys could advice me! Thanks! :)

There's not much point in taking MathI and MathII as they will only "count" as 1 subject test (as in, schools will look at the higher of the two, and ignore the other)

Thanks! Just one question though, will the schools also consider the higher of the two science subjects, suppose i take physics and chemistry? Does it work the same way as math I and II?

Also, a lot of schools say that 3 subject tests required. Just a question, are Math I and II considered 2 subject tests?

ya they are!
They're two different subject tests - same subject but different tests.

I think taking Math II and getting 800 pretty much shows you can do math. So take Physics and Chemistry as well. Variety rox :D

i think physics and chem is bettern than taking two maths.
idk but a lot of ppl say mathII is "harder" than math I.

My understanding is that if you take MathI and MathII, and a school requires 2 subject tests, you will need another test, as the school will only consider Math I or Math II.

If you take Physics and Chemistry though, and the school requires 2 subject tests, then you have already fulfilled the requirement. The exception would be if the school specifies 2 subject tests from 2 different areas.

take Math II, Physics, and Chemistry.
why? whats the point of taking Math IC and IIC when everything in IC is covered in IIC.

and you have a BETTER chance of getting a 800 on IIC (~5 wrong) opposed to IC (0 wrong)

Hey guys, thanks for your comments! =) Just wanna know that does getting an 800 in both Math I and II show greater competency in math than another person who only has an 800 in Math II?

It shows you're great at math. But there are other things you might want to spend your energy on..like essays, ECA etc. If you're naturally capable of getting 800 in I and II without much hard work - it makes sense to take them both. But if getting that score means you have to work your bum off, and sacrifice other aspects of your apps...well, then it's really not worth it. SAT II scores aren't as important as other things in your application package. :D
