an urgent question

One of my family friend is a senior in high school. she is an international student. She took the SAT last month. She didn't do well. She wants to take it one more time. She also needs to take an English (TOEFL) test.

She is wondering if taking SAT in January is too late. The schools she is looking at are PennState, etc.

I have not much knowledge about college application deadlines and so on. Any input will be very much appreciated.

The best thing to do is to visit each school’s admission website. It appears taking SAT in Jan for Penn may not be too late because their deadline is Feb 1.

You don’t give us enough information to form a helpful response (especially when you say Penn State etc.). No grades, no background, not even how low the SATs are. It is my understanding that January is too late, though, for most schools. Does she have any reason to think her scores will rise significantly? Has she thought about taking a practice ACT and seeing if taking that earlier might be a better option?

I don’t know many details. She just mentioned Penn State and a couple others that I don’t remember. If the deadline for applying is Feb.1, taking SAT in Jan. is too late, because scores won’t be available until probably mid. Feb. I’ll tell her check with the schools. Thanks.
