I hope you feel better, we're all rooting for you!

Aww, I'm really sorry to hear about that Elissa! It sucks being confined and limited and such. I hope your leg decides to heal itself in a timely fashion.

But yes, I am now on spring break. I still plan to try calling tomorrow about the honors scholarship status and such. I doubt my efforts will be fruitful, and then I'll be hoping beyond hope that a priority mail package, flying projectile, heavenly sign, etc. arrives on Friday concerning that or else I won't know until next Thursday, when everyone else here is done festivating over receiving full rides ;).

So Elissa, Dima, slipstream/Chris and willywonka/Bobby (and any other finalists who are lurking about)...hang in there a few more days and don't underestimate yourselves at all! I'm sure they'll be a lot of good news all around....

I still don't feel nervous. I think I got completely nervoused out waiting for my admissions decision in the Spring that the scholarship notification doesn't phase me at all.

On a different note, Joyous Purim to everyone! Make tonight (and tomorrow) a time of rest, feasting and rejoicing.

Thanks for the good wishes, y'all. Not dancing anymore is a little bit sad, but it is nice to be home for Easter instead of pulling an eleven hour day at the theater, so there are definite plusses, still. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and I hope spring weather has (finally, hee hee) headed your way.

~*~

OK, so I called yesterday and although they were reluctant to give out info over the phone, after I explained my situation they ended up telling me that I didn't receive any scholarship money at all. I was under the impression that everyone, or most everyone, would be awarded something for taking the time to go to the W&L campus, but apparently I'm in the (hopefully) small percentage that didn't receive anything at all. Which is weird because I felt I represented myself quite accurately, did really well during the interviews, and made a very good impression on many professors, but I guess I either made a really bad impression on somebody, convinced everyone I was too mentally unstable and crazy and that would corrupt the general sanity of the campus :p, that they're looking at finances way too heavily (my family's far from rich, but I wouldn't qualify for a lot, if any, financial aid), or some other reason that remains to be seen or will be left unseen.

I'm debating whether I'm even going to be getting a letter of acceptance from them now, haha ;). But y'all probably know where I'm going with this - that there's now a very slim to none chance that I'll be attending W&L. I have about $5000 now to go to Rice, and I'm waiting for word from five other schools. So this rejection of sorts irks me more than anything else...but I have the security of knowing that things will work out otherwise.

But I have confidence that things will work out differently for you four :). I'll be gone for about a week on a dreaded family trip, but I expect to hear a lot of good news when I get back!

I'm sorry to hear that Emilia; they must not have interviewed the same person I met! You are an awesome person and you should definitely not be worrying much about your other five schools. I'm sad that we now have almost no chance of seeing each other again :( I know you'll have a great time wherever you go, and, in the meantime, try to have fun on your trip!

We will miss you Emilia, I hope you stay on this forum to chat with us, I won't be taking you off my buddy list for sure. Enjoy your vacation.

If she didn't get any money, I doubt I will get any, my credentials are worse than hers and I don't think I stood out at all in my interviews (unless the karaoke performance of "I Will Survive" pushes me over the top). I hope it wasn't based on need, that's just not fair since fin aid is already need based.

Emilia, sorry bout the scholarship thingy. Neway, hope you'll still attend WLU.
Dima, whutz up??? Yeap, i'm back. Was on vacation for a month...When will the GWHS decisions be out anyway?
Good Luck to all..the waiting game sucks...

they were sent on March 24th, so they should be coming in around Monday or Tuesday I would presume.

Or, if you're lucky, it might just come today.

What's up guys and gals, haven't been here for a while, but I got my stuff today. Happy to say that I got a full scholarship, including food and books and room money. Emilia, it was obvious you really wanted to go to Rice, so maybe it's like a blessing that you didn't have this money to make you second guess yourself. Good luck in either case, though. For everyone else, good luck on getting the money and decisions you want, too.

wow, full ride and everything? very jealous...hoping still...mail not in today.

in necase, post on the official decions thread if u haven't (w/ stats if u feel comfortable) it'll b helpful to everyone else

Anyone else overwhelmed by how many people have posted in the past couple of days who we haven't heard from.

This forum felt like our own private community before now it feels like a whole big thing.

Congratulations to you willywonka, I hope this makes your choice between W&L and Dartmouth easier to make, I had a feeling you would get it. Being in New York, it takes an extra day for mail to arrive. It arrives at my local post office the same day but needs another day to go around the city so I'll likely be hearing on Monday.

willywonka....congrats to you. i was under the impression the best scholarship was full tuition. is part of your full ride financial aid?

Wow, these last two days are the worst for waiting.... being in Texas is a little bit sad right now.

Emilia-- obviously there's no accounting for taste. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the scholarship; I would have liked to hang with you next year at W&L. Regardless, I think that you'll love Rice and Houston (especially if you find the Epicure Cafe. Call me for specific directions :-) ), and they're lucky to have you.

Willywonka-- all I can say is wow! Congratulations. I hope this means we'll be seeing you next fall. I bet you're happy dancing right now-- I would be!

Can't wait for Monday now....

mom09, your first thought was mostly correct. I remember hearing while at the competition that four or five "full" winners with special financial need get money to cover the other expenses as well. I'm not sure how it's determined at all beyond that, sorry.

Thanks to everyone, too.

Well, I guess I was wrong about NYC mail. it's just slow, I just got mine here at 5 o'clock.

I got the same as willywonka - full ride (tuition, room & board and books), probably because I have considerable financial need. I also got another $750 for being a National Merit finalist which I will probably use to buy a laptop.

Good luck to anyone still waiting.

thank you for the response willywonka.....it's good to know that such resources are available. dima, congrats to you too! wow.

TO WILLIWONKA & DIMA - CONGRATS - please enjoy Lexington !!!!!!! that is if you do decide to go there lol. What wonderful opportunities await you!!!

Again - CONGRATS!!!!!

I got in! i got the news today. none of you know me and none of you care but i'm psyched. good luck!

Emilia - Sorry to hear your news was not what you expected :( I truly wish you well with your other options and with your final decision :)
