Andover Acceptance Package

I know a few who did and when they emailed exeter to ask AO just said that it was the decisions and did not say the actual results

is this the same for exeter and other schools as well?

Eugeniae:
no, that’s why I assumed my daughter had been WL or denied. We were so shocked…hmm pleasantly surprised is a better way of putting it. I’m not saying this is the norm. I remember freaking out because I was reading everyone else’s fed ex deliveries on CC. Just one family’s experience…btw I’m only hanging out on CC now because I have a senior waiting to hear from colleges, but my younger daughter attends Andover and I noticed this conversation link.

Four years ago, March 10th was on a Monday. I believe that the Andover Federal Express boxes for accepted students actually arrived on Tuesday the 11th, with waitlists/rejections being sent by regular mail. ONLY international students can get on-line/e-mail notification for Andover is also my recollection. I doubt that Andover will send acceptances to arrive on Saturday the 10th this year, as Saturday delivery is more expensive, and not all places have Saturday delivery. If the acceptances for PA have not arrived today, I have a feeling they may not arrive until Monday the 12th.

This is what it says on the Andover website:

“All admission decisions will be mailed on Saturday, March 10. With the exception of the international applicants, Phillips Academy does not give out online admission decisions. If you have not received your admission decision in the mail by March 19, you may call the admission office for your decision.”

It is still ambiguous how Andover plans to inform accepted students this year. Past info. and many posts here indicate that accepted students get Fedex packages on M10.

I have gotten variable answers from Andover Admissions office itself! Some AO’s confirmed Fedex delivery for March 10. The helpful receptionist vouches no Fedex but only mail, to be mailed 3/10/12 as per website.

This would leave many applicants/families in a state of uncertainty over next few days at least.

I would urge any CC posters to confirm if they receive Andover package on 3/10.

They indicate that they will mail on M10 (everywhere, web, email, FP, Dean’s journal.). If it is true, the likely date of arrival is M12 or after…

Can you pick up the mail from admission office if you live in Andover or nearby?

F2000sa: I highly doubt it… You can always call and ask, though.

I called Andover Admissions today. They were EMPHATIC. On Saturday, March 10th they will inform all applicants by post office mail and mail only, of the admission decision. NOTHING will be sent out before then. If she was telling the truth, most people will not receive word until next week. A lot of folks on this thread are going to be very disappointed and confused.

Andover admission office has a very sweet receptionist (who was very helpful during my DC’s visit). She has repeatedly indicated “mail only, out 3/10.”
The interviewing AO had actually confirmed the Fedex delivery on 3/10 few days ago.
Based on official website info, I don’t know who to believe.
Just now called admissions again, different lady," they are going out tomorrow by mail."

Another week of waiting, depending on where you live!

wow, if mail after work today, still possible on M10. If mail on M10, definitely next week!

okay, then that thread about the PAA accept must be fake.

Not necessarily. It may be possible that the coaches from PA and PEA contacted the student directly…

Hm, I’m still not convinced. Is that thread true or not? Oh well, it doesn’t affect me, so congrats to that person.

OK, this is going to add to the confusion. I called a friend, who knows a friend, who knows a friend who works at FEDEX and he went on line and said that FEDEX had picked up a number of packages today, Friday, from Phillips Academy in Andover Massachusetts and one of those packages is scheduled to be delivered to my house at 10:00am tomorrow. That would mean that if you call FEDEX, ask them if they have “in the system” a delivery to your house coming from Andover, Massachusetts. They will generally tell you. You do not need the tracking number. If you call FEDEX, 800-463-3339 and then hit the number zero three or four times and you will get to a person, if its not to late. Good luck !!!

It isn’t too late. I called the guy, and he said there is something in the system but the doesn’t have the tracking information so he doesnt know if it is from MA and that it hasn’t been sent out yet. Neither of my parents are expecting anything from Fedex so… fingers crossed!

Interesting idea… I think I’ll wait until tomorrow, though…

^^ Yes, I agree, very inventive – if this sort of creative “working the problem” is what Andover seeks in its applicants, you are in!

I called Fedex, and it looks like I’m not in :/
