Hello!
I am currently stuck between choosing to go to Andover or Choate. I originally wanted to choose based off of revisit days to get a feel for the atmosphere of the schools, but they have been canceled. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they can share?
My son is in the same boat - still hasn’t decided for sure! He was really counting on the revisit day b/c Andover was in final exams when he went so he didn’t feel he got a good sense for how the school was normally. Did you make your decision? If so, which did you chose, and why?
What led you to apply to each school initially? Does proximity to Boston vs NYC matter to you? Size of the schools? Size of the towns they’re in?
Don’t think you can go wrong with either. These are the two schools that my child most wanted to attend, and we viewed them as very similar. I believe someone else reported on these boards that an AO at Choate stated that he thought Choate was most similar to Andover. That was our impression based as well.
For my child, it ended up being no decision. Admitted to Andover; waitlisted at Choate. Going into M10, we all leaned slightly towards Andover because the average stats lined up better with my kiddo’s stats, but my kiddo would unquestionably have revisited both with a very open mind had that been an option.
Always wondered why Andover neglected to add Abbot Academy to its name when those schools merged…Choate included Rosemary Hall in its name following a similar merger
My impression is that Choate is more progressive than Andover,
