Animal Science major

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna apply next year to the animal science major, for dairy science. Does anyboby have any experience in this major or know anything about it?? Also i heard that there were specific greek houses for ag. Does anyone know what these places are like??

I'm not in the major, but the animal science major is recognized, unquestionably, as the best program of its kind in the nation. I would guess that this major has more physical facilities dedicated to it, on and off campus, than any other major at Cornell. They have research farms dedicated to each category of livestock, including dairy cattle of course. You can also take courses, even as an undergrad, in the vet school with vet school faculty. If you check the Cornell course catalogue, you can get a sense of the scope and depth of this major.

Alpha Zeta is the ag fraternity, and I believe it's coed. I also think it's an honors fraternity of some sort, that is, I think you need a certain GPA to join, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will fill you in.

Alpha Zeta is co-ed and has a fairly liberal definition of academic qualification, and is restricted to CALS students. Presuming you are female from your name, op, an agriculture oriented fraternity is Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR--quite subtle....) but there is no such parallel sorority.

I'm an animal science major; fire away. :)

I want to apply to Cornell to major in animal science also because I eventually want to become a veterinarian (and hopefully go to Cornell's Vet School, but I was wondering for this plan of action, what other schools would be a good idea to apply to, just in case I don't get into Cornell?
