HI, this is my first post on CC
I am currently a freshman at Loyola University of Chicago
I am thinking of applying to Yale University
1st Semester: likely to be 3.8-4.0
ACT: 31 SAT MATH II: 780
High school GPA 3.2uw, 3.8w
ranked most difficult in Illinois
HS EC: Orchestra Viola Section leader, Orchestra Chamber Group, Swim Team, Youth Group and Worship Team drummer (community service over 500hrs)
College EC: AED National Premedical Society, AMSA, University Ministry soup kitchen and community service
Received many school music awards, Illinois State Scholar, most likely to recieve all the college academic honors (deans list, etc)
Lived four years in South Korea
Hobbies from boxing, piano, drums, chimes, marimba, etc
played competitive Table Tennis
plus im getting a rec from the president of the university and the director of African American studies

The reason I want to transfer to Yale, is because my current school does not offer pre-medical, environmental integration with programs about world demographics and environmental reasons affecting such
i also dont like the fact that it smells like throwup and booz everywhere, but generally LUC is a very science school but it seems people are not passionate about serving the community but only in raising there careers

I thank you guys for all your opinions, positive or negative, although positive is appreciated

would anyone like to chance me please

i also have written my personal statement, i would love some suggestions

Yale takes very few transfers, and the ones they accept have amazing profiles. I wouldn't put yours in that category.

my academics are probably average of most applicants that they recieve
but i think my story/personal statement is most compelling
and i have a huge interest in rheumatic heart disease, and cardiovascular heart disease and how it is killing children in AFRICA, which is something only Yale offers, atleast out of all the ivies

Yale accepts between 20 and 25 transfer applicants each year. More than 700 apply. That means less than 3 percent are accepted. It's much tougher to be a transfer applicant than a regular applicant.

would u like to review my ps

Hi elee,
There's some speculation on the parent forum that some full or partial-pay students will have to transfer out of some of the expensive private schools due to changing family finances. I wonder if that will translate to more transfer spots for students who qualify for FA, or who are full-pay and can still make that work. No need for you to share financials, just commenting on possible impact of economy on transfers...

personally my family qualifies as a low income family, but i wouldn't think it would change the number of transfers because I believe Yale still has a fair amount of applicants able to pay their dues
