If it’s not TAG you should be OK with less (I think), as one year transfers seem to do it with only AP exams and maybe two summer course completed. I believe as long as at least the last 30 units are at a CCC is the requirement.
Very possible.
Life happened so I ended up missing classes alot.
I went from having a GPA of 1.8 at CSU, went to a CC, and now I am transferring to the UCs with a 3.5 GPA
Econ major.
@TonyStark93
Which UCs did you apply to and which have you been accepted to? How long did you spend at CC? I’m leaving my CSU with a 4, and hoping to take my time at a CC for 2 years and do all the prereqs as a math major, and IGETC, and transfer to SD, LA, or Berkeley. I would definitely consider Irvine and SB, but I would prefer the top 3. I find that its doable for me, but I don’t want to walk into this as a naive hopeful when I should be a skeptical, plan for the worst kind of person.
@naregian
Applied to UCLA, UCI, UCSB, UCSD and USC
So far accepted to UCSB, waiting on the other 4.
Spent 2 years at CC, 1 year at CSU.
I went into this plan not knowing anything or what to do and I pulled through. And the fact that your GPA is a 4.0 means you’ll be even better off.
It’s completely doable… so don’t worry you’re good.
Would you say staying at CC for 2 years helped or hurt you? Do you know anything about that? I am pretty damn borderline…I have exactly 12 courses I need in order to be done with IGETC and my major prep. I am planning on running back and forth from CC to CC (theres 2 within 12 miles of my home) in order to take 4 courses this summer, 5 in the fall, and 3 or 4 in the spring. I am fairly confident I can pull off a 3.8-4, but I need to know just how much weaker my application will be if I took 2 years to do these 12 courses. Did you TAG into Santa Barbara?
@naregian
No TAG.
2 years definitely helped me. It’s better to take 2 years and get a good GPA rather than messing up that 4.0
Plus I went to more than one CC in order to finish. So yeah do that.
All the UC’s are realistic. I spent my first year at CSUN and then started taking all my classes at GCC the following year. Now I’ve applied to all the UC’s and I’ve gotten into Santa Barbara so far and I’m still waiting on all the others. I’m a history major and I applied with a 3.6 GPA.
What I did is that I made sure to have more units at the CC than I did at CSUN. So I have 34 units at GCC and 26 transferable units at CSUN. This got me to be considered a CC student instead of a 4-year student. I kept my grades as high as possible, despite taking a bunch of science classes for pre-dental requirements in the future. Just plan on finishing IGETC along with as many major prerequisites as you possibly can by checking [assist.org]. Make sure to keep your major prerequisite grades high too. It’s no big deal. I’m sure you’ll be fine, even with the big dogs like Berkeley and UCLA.
@odabach
Did you do anything that summer between CSUN and GCC?
I’m really hoping you get in @TonyStark93 if for no other reason than your avatar.
Same here, @TonyStark93, good luck mate.
I just took one of my major prerequisite classes over the summer at GCC. I also took a winter class there too. For now, start checking which one of the CSU classes transfer to UC’s by looking them up on assist.org. Go on that website and start seeing if your local CC or any other CC’s provide a class that’s equivalent to the class you took at your CSU. If it’s equivalent, then check if it’s UC transferable and start doing the same for all other classes.
@lindyk8
Get in where
To all the ones you’ve applied to. You applied to berkeley and UCLA, right? @TonyStark93 .
@lindyk8
Yeah I wanna go to UCLA or USC, if not those, then I’ll most likely attend UCSB.
Where do you wanna go?
I just got into UCSD from CSU Stanislaus Wooohhooo the impossible is possible (but hard as fuck)
@juanton1995 Straight from CSUS? Or CC first? What was your GPA/major?
Straight from CSU! 3.9 gpa , critical gender studies . It was weird I was rejected to Davis and riverside … So I think the CSU really puts one at a disadvantage
