I just wanted to post another update about what was happening with me for those parents who helped me out with the honor society thing. Something good for my grad school chances (if I do decide to go to grad school in biology, any input on this?) happened today. My research supervisor and I discovered that the experimental diet we were feeding to some white bass was able to impove feed utilization by adding an emulsifer called Tween-80.

As a result of this success, I could possibly get published this summer! How's that for standing out from the usual crowd? This will look really good on a resume and on a grad school application.

Feel free to comment, I love hearing from you parents!

Of course being published is a very exciting thing and you should be very proud of your accomplishment. And your discovery too. That will also make for VERY nice credentials for grad school. My daughter is in high school, but she was coauthor on an abstract in the Society of Vertabrate Paleontologists annual publication (alongside 3 PhD's), and she designed and presented a poster on their work at the conference's poster session. Now it looks as if she will be coauthor of an entire article along with a paleontologist she is doing independent research with. This is thrilling too. Too late for the college aps, but very cool.

You might do better to consult with your Professors and your research supervisor on your chances for grad school and how much it will fit your employment goals and determine your employment potential.
