Anthropology Major @ UCLA

Are there any anthropology majors on here that were either accepted or rejected by UCLA? If you are, can you post your stats? Thank you so much!

I will apply on this fall semester. TAP student. PTK. I'm worried that my school does not offer one major requirement course. How can I do that?:(

Some users posted their GPA’s here.

Check the 2009 official decisions thread…there are a lot of anthro majors who posted their stats, me included… :)

I’m an Anthropology major.

GPA: 3.51
Pre-Reqs/IGETC: 3/4 pre-reqs (my school doesn’t offer liguistics)/I will be IGETC certified
Transfer Programs: None
Essay: I mentioned how X-Files inspired me in my love for science and how having my kids gave me the strength to go back to school and actually try, blah blah blah. I thought it was pretty good, especially my X-Files nod.
Units: 65
EC’s: volunteering and ASB when I first went, but after my kids I did nothing
Work: raising two kids, and graphic design that had me working on bone images <– this ofcourse relates to my intended career choice of paleopathology/forensic anthropology

I would suggest looking at other CCC for the pre-reqs. Having two kids meant I had to take alot of online courses, including physical/biological anthro online at Cypress. I know alot of schools also offer cultural anthro online too. Nowadays, you can do everything online without ever going on campus. So you can register at say, Cypress College online, sign-up for classes and do all the work online and never have to set foot on campus. This will look good to UCLA, because it shows you sort of went out of your way to do these pre-reqs, even if they weren’t offered at your school.

Wow! Thank you for your answers! I should check the website and other college! :)

BTW dj, I have a question. When did you apply? If I could not finish one course(Anthro33) in my school, may I take it at ucla?

no other community college offers anthro 33, so don’t worry about it. If you want to get in, get a gpa above 3.5, but seriously though, if you look at the average gpas, it is much lower compared to other majors.
