Anti-Fog spray for eyeglasses

My husband and I are overwhelmed looking on line for anti fog spray for eyeglasses (an issue with masks). Has anyone bought a product they especially like?

Or a product or idea that actually works? Using Dawn dishwashing liquid did nothing. Having a mask with a nose wire helps a little but not a lot.

@thumper1 - exactly. I want something that works well.

Following because I haven’t found anything that I like either. My optician says he sells one in his office but I keep forgetting to buy some. I bought one from amazon and that did not work.

I bought K-95 masks and those seem to be the best in not fogging up my glasses.

The good news is that are finding that wearing glasses cuts down on transmission

The sprays don’t work well and they often leave a residue on the glasses which makes things blurry - kind of defeats the purpose. The easiest thing to do is to find a triple layered mask with a metal bar at the top. Pull your mask to the top of your nose (where your bridge is flatter) and press it against your cheeks just below the medial portion of your eyes. You want to close the gap between the cheek and the nose. If you pinch it against your nose, or wear it down your nose, the mask tents and allows a gap for your breath to escape and fog your glasses. Also, wearing single layer masks that diffuses your breath leads to more fogging.

Thank you, yes! The spray left a residue.

I swear I can’t find my words anymore!

Some people tape their mask against their cheeks. I find that it irritates the skin but to each is own.

I saw that you can put something like this to keep the mask from fogging your glasses

I also haven’t found anything that really works.

When I had my vision checked, they taped the whole top of my mask to my nose and cheeks. That worked, but I’m not doing that everyday!

@deb922 oy! I find it amusing that the ad touts how well this works with glasses, but neither of the models is wearing glasses!

I use a spray daily. Yes it leaves a residue but that’s what stops the fog and I can see fine.

I have been happy with mine. If you own it already, my tip/trick is to spray from quite far away -about 12 inches. One spray should cover both lenses on the outside, a second spray covers both lenses on the inside. Then use your fingers to wipe the lens clear of bubbles/streaks, and don’t touch the lenses again - just let them air dry. You don’t need much product at all, but if you wipe it off with a cloth, it won’t work.

What kind of spray are you using?

It’s called Fog Away by Gamers Advantage. I picked it because it was a top seller on Amazon.

There are very specific online instructions (basically similar to the tip I put above). If you follow them, it works (but use very little product and don’t buff anything away, just use your fingers to create clear lenses and let air dry)

@deb922 - I might try that. I notice it also eliminates the need for the ear loops on masks which I dislike as they tend to make my ears stick out! Thanks!

@3kids2dogs - I will also try the Fog Away. Thanks!

You might as well wear your N95. The reason the N95 works is because it creates a seal at the top. Most masks block the sides and bottom and send your breath up through the top gap.

I’ve heard some people like Cat Crap spray but I don’t know if any of these sprays will wear down anti-reflective coatings, mirror coatings, etc.

That concerns me. I do have anti reflective coating and I don’t want to ruin it.

You can use Sea Drops, which should be available at your local SCUBA shop. They work great, but do not use them if you have anti-reflective lenses. They will ruin the coating.

I gave up on the anti-fog idea and bought progressive contact lenses, so I can see near and far. I really didn’t expect them to work for me (I am very picky!) but they do. I love them. I can go outside in the cold and not worry about glasses.
