I got admitted by UCLA and decided to go there. I want to live and study in a relatively quiet place with right amount of social activities, and UCLA has soooo many types of housing. I dont know which one is the most suitable for me.

I heard that the classic halls can be too social and noisy. Is the deluxe hall a lot better? or I need to choose the expansive plaza ones. What about the location of the dorms, any advantages or drawbacks.

Thanks a lot!

I’m not sure where you have heard that the classic halls are any more social than the deluxe halls (ie Hedrick vs. De Neve) Overall, I would say the social experience is what you make it. Any housing option that you choose on campus will have “quite hours” that are strictly enforced, so in terms of noise level I dont think it’s that much of a problem unless you just get ****ty neighbors who are constantly blasting music or something. The deluxe halls are larger than the classic halls, which is reflected in the price difference. For location, Hedrick hall and summit are the farthest from campus. Hitch and Saxon are pretty far too since they are right by hedrick and the walk can be annoying sometimes especially in bad weather when you have to take a bunch of stairs. Just visit the campus with a map and check out where the housing options are and their proximity to the campus itself.
