Any chance to re-take a Pre-Economics major course?

Just want to get a confirmation for a Pre-Economics major course, do you have the following options:

  1. Switch the grading from letter to Pass/No Pass and re-take the course next quarter for a letter grade again?
  2. If receiving a score lower than C, let's say C-, are you allowed to repeat the course and use the second score (hopefully higher) for your 2.85 gpa calculation?
