Has anyone on here recently appealed to get into the Economics major/pre-major at UCSB? If so, how was it?

Are you talking about getting into the pre major or Econ major? Because even after you get accepted to ucsb as a pre major, you have to take Econ 10a and pass with at least a solid B to take upper division classes. It is not easy since the grades are curved and about half the class will get a C or worse.

But if you pass with a C or better, you can appeal and you will be given one more chance to take 100b and have to pass it with a B or better. Other-wise you have to find another major. I’ve also heard about people who failed 10a and took it again and getting A’s second time around, but this is rare.

Honestly if you are not a strong student, i wouldn’t recommend UC Econ. Since it is difficult to crack into the major, a lot of students had no choice but major in not so lucrative majors i.e. psychology, global studies… I believe in the CSU system there is no weeding out process, so once you get accepted into the major you have a better chance of earning that degree.
