Any chances? (Reach!)

I think I have about a 1% chance of getting into Rutgers but when I tell my friends they say I will surely get in which I can hardly believe. I went to the campus today and it is very nice but didn't get a chance to talk to anybody because the event was so un-organized and crowded.

I am a senior in a public school in Monmouth County (which is ranked 11th in the whole state and there is no ranking system because of that)

SAT - 1630, 560 reading, 550 writing, 520 math
GPA - 2.7-2.8
Community Work - 20 hours of community service and was in a church youth group
Sports - Soccer for two years, I couldn't play the other two years because I was in Croatia for the whole summer visiting family, and soccer is really the only sport I am good at ;)
Work Experience - Work at Target, 25-28 hours a week

Plan to do business or accounting which is the Livingston Campus and in-state (is it true they prefer in-staters than out of state students?)

so whats is RU, a) no chance b) small chance c) 50/50 or d) certain

From kids I know and hang out with, that would be pretty average. In-state is usually preferred at a state university.

Thanks for the information Vinin, any other people have thoughts on my chances?

Livingston? You're probrably in. GPA is ehhh, but you should be good for Livingston.

well the guy I talked with at the open house said that if I want a major in business or accounting, Livingston is the best option

do Rutgers look at Senior grades?

I heard people say that Rutgers does not look at senior grades because they feel they can assess you based on your first three years of high school.

well I assume that they don't because I know some kids that are already accepted into Rutgers and the first marking period isn't even over yet

Yea...people usually get decisions within three weeks...

I think you have a decent chance...send in a teacher recommendation, it might help...

Well I finished my application, all I have to do is the personal statement which I made a rough draft of and I will type that tomorrow and submit it, then of course I have to send in grades and etc..

Well I am really hoping I get in, Rutgers is easily my #1 choice but I am definetely not too confident about it

Rutgers is my #1 choice as well. Good luck! Let us know when you receive a decision.

Did my personal statement, sent my scores, paid for the application, not all I need is to send the official transcript, still not too sure about it though

I heard Rutgers gives you a decision in 2 weeks? The transcript was sent yesterday

I got my acceptance e-mail 7 days after I applied, so they their decision-making process is really fast!!!

well, considering their holistic review, i'd imagine so... if your sat's and grades are there they accept you...
