I'm looking for the school that would offer me the most money basically. Sounds bad I know, but I need it. I want to be a physician assistant.

I have a VERY poor GPA at the moment, about 3.14 (probably going to go up though. :3)

And am in the 2nd quartile of my class. (Top 50%)

Taken about 3 AP classes last year. Not including several summer college classes I've taken. (AP classes have actually dragged my GPA down, ugh)

SAT score was 1780 on first try, taking it again in November, I'll actually study this time. ^^

I'm taking my ACT this Satuday, very hopeful. crosses fingers

Basically, I can take any major since I'm just biding my time until I get my Bachelors (the only Physician Assistant programs here are for graduate schools). I know I'm minoring in psychology though since I want to also try being a forensic psychologist.

I'M ALSO VOLUNTEERING AT A HOSPITAL THIS SUMMER.

Any recommendations for schools in Texas? : D

TCU maybe? They have criminal justice and psych majors which would both help you towards where you want to go. UCAN shows them giving large average discounts, and SAT scores look like you hit in their upper half.

Trinity University
Austin College
Southwestern College

Thanks for the recommendations. ^^

Does TCU require you to take any special religious classes or anything?.. I’m not a religious person by any means so.~

Since you want to be a PA, which usually involves taking out large loans, be careful not to borrow much for undergrad.

If you can’t get a good FA offer going into freshman year, you should either start at a CC or a local state university that you can commute to.

Yes, you can major in anything, but you do need to make sure that you have the PA pre-reqs of bio, chem, physics, etc…whatever is req’d for Texas PA programs.

Oh of course I know that! Hehe. I’m probably going to major in psychology minor in criminal justice and take all the required science classes as well.

Yeah, I was hoping I could get a full ride from somewhere. ><;; I was very angry when I found out UT (at Austin) doesn’t offer criminal justice as a major. :c

No offense, but unless you’re in the top 10% of your class, you wouldn’t have likely been accepted to UT-Austin.

I think you need to be realistic. With your stats, the chance that you could get a full-ride out there is wishful thinking.

I’m not trying to be harsh, I’m trying to get you on the right track dealing with what your stats are, what your $$ situation is, etc. That way you can come up with some a reasonable list that will get you to where you want…a PA program. :)

Are you very low income? If so, then a combo of Pell Grants and (I think) Texas state aid will help a lot.

Are there any universities that you can commute to? If so, which ones?

Have you looked at UT-Dallas, Texas Tech, UT-Arlington, UTSA? UT El Paso???

Some of them might give you a tuition scholarship.
