Any IB People Up In Here?

The glorious IB...

You get sick from breathing in too much turpentine, after you spend 7 hours slaving away in the art studio just for HL Visual Arts' sake.

You make lists and lists of things you have to 'achieve', and you end up doing virtually nothing.

You get up at 4 in the morning to "do work".

Everything piles up on top of each other and you have a nervous breakdown.

Deadlines keep on coming.. never stops.

You go to an english oral and start speaking in french.

Filling in CAS forms takes longer than writing a history essay.

All you can think about are those lucky 7's..

hahaha

yeah 45 means something...the impossible number to get if you still want to retain your sanity! i think the 42 has something to do with math, but i forget what it was. something like the meaning of life is 42 because (insert mathematical proof here)

what does the 42 have to do with.. isn't it just 6 x 7.... perfect score minus the 3 bonus points?

4 people got 44 last year at my school..
and there was a 45er a couple of years ago..

our school avg IB score is relatively high i think... the avg is close to 35

what are you guys predicted roughly?

i thought that 42 just had to do with math and not with IB, but i could be wrong. i need to ask my math teacher.

we've only had one 44 and that was last year, but our school is really new and semi-revolutionary for the area. we have a pretty high diploma acquisition rate though.

they don't predict for us :-(

"Wait, 6 IB tests only $250!?!?! My school is ripping us off!!! Wow...because we definitely have to pay over $500, bordering on $600 for ours!"

LOL, let's just say my school is "underpriviliged" so it gets some government "funding". haha.

"You go to an english oral and start speaking in french."

o man I did that and I spoke in spanish...fun times...

"after you spend 7 hours slaving away in the art studio"
jebus, my art teacher was so mad at me because I told her applying to colleges is more important than IB Art :P

how can they not predict for you...?
all teachers have to predict.. those are the things that go to colleges..

yeh our school only has 1 or 2 people each year that fail..

uwcsea's the biggest IB school in the world.. it's kinda crazy over here..

OMG if i told my art teacher that.. i woulda been shot.. and my brains woulda been splattered all over my canvas!!!

"how can they not predict for you...?
all teachers have to predict.. those are the things that go to colleges.."

"yeh our school only has 1 or 2 people each year that fail.."

WOW, that is crazy, you would proabably get a good kick out of my school's stats and it's % diploma receivers...

...huh....??

oh lol i mean my school doesn't predict and things like that doesn't get sent to colleges.

oh really.. how come..
the predicted points are really important at our school... for uni.. since they don't get to see the final results that come out in june/july

o yeah! it's the same for schools in england, and probably in other countries (but I didn't look at their applications). In the US, IB is unfortunately not well-known/understood/esteemed. My friend applied to Oxford and is convinced he got rejected because of our French teacher's prediction of his score, which is really sad because now he's really bitter against her. I think predicting scores is really bad because it puts so much pressure on teachers. What if students score lower than the predicted score? Just as bad, what if they score BETTER and then rage because they could have gotten into the college of their dreams if only the college had seen the real scores rather than predicted.

Did any of the colleges in the U.S. that you applied to ask for your predicted scores? I don't recall any of them asking...

College in the US don't really care what your IB scores are. I don't even recall any of them asking. They just want to see the rigor of your curiculum and the grades you received in those classes.

IB was a waste of four years, although I would have gone to the same school anyways.

people who go to RM IB and end up goin to cp. what a shame..waste of hard work

I don't know man, there are lots of stupid people in IB. Some of the people I really have no idea how they got in.... probably only about a third of them are as hard-working and as smart as advertised.

what's RM and cp?

forreal? i guess i overestimated it. r u in the hardworking/smart category? haha im hardworking but not smart. i cant write a decent essay in 20 minutes. did u go to fox chapel or cold spring?

chatter.me n welsh r from the same area..RM is an IB school and CP is university of maryland college park..a pretty good state university

I would say I'm pretty smart and hardworking, but not as much as some of the people in IB. I know kids who have 1590 SATs and 3.97 GPAs, as well as some students who have like 4.0 GPAs in IB (incredibly difficult). I've done pretty well in IB (3.93UW, 4.67W). I think you'd succeed as long as you put in the time and effort.

RM is Richard Montgomery (its a high school in MD) and CP is College Park (Univ. MD).

Wait...Did you go to RM?

RM=Richard Montgomery High School -ranked like 30something in the nation and #1 in Maryland public school
CP=University of Maryland College Park

ok im leaving this thread now i dont belong here im not in ib haha
