I can do an okay one. Also, is anyone here obsessed with Suraj Sharma?

I am an Indian(still in India) hoping to pursue undergraduation in the U.S.Both my parents are doctors and reading this thread,I feel lucky to have parents like them.No pressures from their side to become a doctor(as is generally the case). They have asked me to follow my dreams.I am appearing for the SAT in October.Hope I get a great score.

That’s awesome, I wish you the best of luck!

who here likes gulab jamun?

As I’m interested in computer science, my parents don’t have any problem with that

I’m worried about the SAT though since it’s more of a writing/english test, and that’s kind of my weak subject (as opposed to math, though even the math portion of the SAT is really stupid, I got like ~600 on a practice test, whereas for math 2 subject test which tests more advanced math I get ~750 [on barron’s which is supposed to be a lot harder than the actual])

“And again knowing Indian parents, they refuse to pay more than the first year of college.”
What? My parents aren’t like that at all

You may want to try ACT as some will do better on ACT than SAT and vice versa. Since English has two sections on SAT including the writing section, math is only 1/3 of SAT, you just have to suck it up and study harder.

Masterball, I’m interested in computer science too! I think my parents were really relieved.

Ugh, the Math 2 subject test will be the end of me.

Medicine has better job prospects than computer science, especially during recessions. CS has too many people already including the immigrants from India and China.

i’ve had a lot of crushes on indians. i think they’re really attractive

HAHA sorry but i’m bored, here. please don’t take offense.

I know, but you shouldn’t do something you aren’t interested in purely for money.

There’s actually a shortage of computer programmers. Everyone’s saying that that’s a high demand job.

I agree, you shouldn’t do something just for the money. But the money is nice.

a shortage of programmers?
:D

Ummmm…yes?

You go into medicine to help the patients, not for the money.

False. I know many unemployed programmers, I don’t know any unemployed doctors.

My cousin had the credentials to go into medicine. Instead, she studied engineering. Now with some work experience with odd jobs and unemployment, she now wishes she had gone into medicine just like some of her friends.

Bringing this thread back.

lol I’m an Indian freshman, I don’t have too much pressure, but I want to go into medicine. My dad wants me to go into business which I like as well. My brother has a 1760 SAT and is a senior, which makes my parents very mad, the problem is that he has no motivation to do well. As for me, I’m clinging to my 4.0 this semester, and I hope to take the SAT in a couple of months and get closer to an 1800-1900 (got a horrible 1520 on a practice this summer). The one practice one I took yesterday was a 1700 from the blue book, I guess the difference was in the laziness I had over the summer. So I presume that if I take a couple more, I’ll get closer to my projected range. In summer, I’ll study my *** off and hope for a 2000+.

Lol so somehow I miraculously got a 2300 superscored (2270 single sitting though), and the day I got my scores, my parents were all “Good job, beta!”
And then the next thing my dad said?
“Time to start studying for subject tests!”
Smh.

Apandia, I saw your other thread about your brother. Hope everything works out.
Wow, marshmallowpop, nice! I’m taking the SAT this Saturday and my mom is slamming all the prep books at me.
What’s super score?
I just came home from my Indian friend’s house and the only thing our parents talked about was the SAT and colleges. My friend got a 2290 on her first try in October and I could sense the competition in the room. Sigh. I just want a 2050 tbh.

Yeah Im also taking the SAT this upcoming saturday. Im shooting for a 2300+ but its gonna take some luck. Past couple critical reading tests from the back of the blue book have been around 680-700 so blah. :/
