Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone has taken these classes and if they are difficult. Math115Q and Chem127Q. I've been getting some mixed opinions about them. Any info about them would help me greatly.

Thanks in advance

Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone has taken these classes and if they are difficult. Math115Q and Chem127Q. I've been getting some mixed opinions about them. Any info about them would help me greatly.

Thanks in advance

Math 115q usually has exam avgs. of about 67% or lower. But the class has a big curve usually so if you do the work its not hard to get a good grade. But its not easy. Chem 127q, well that class is a beast. You need to study A LOT to do well, and understand the material extremely well. Uconn's chem department is very very hard.

I agree with bigndude about 115Q...my room-mate is currently taking the class and he said it is relatively easy. I am in 135Q which is the honors calc I course and we are actually doing even less work than 115Q, plus Professor Vinsonhaler is the man.

In terms of chem 127Q, it really is what you make of it. I've only been in the course for two weeks, but I heard it will get significantly harder. The quizzes I have taken are tremendously easy, but the labs have been a pain in the ass because we are graded solely on accuracy of answers (no lab write-ups). I will probably be able to give you a better estimate of how hard the class is once I take real exams, but I don't think it is really that bad.

Chem 127q will turn hard as heck once you get past the 1st exam. Then when you hit 128q o boy does it suck, and grades drop like crazy. Quizzes are always easy, as is the first exam.

The first exam wasn't as easy as I expected: in my discussion group, 1/3 of the kids failed. I still managed an A- though.

The first exam is easy, wait till the later ones.

I got a D in chem127, F in 128. they both suck

The bio courses are also incredibly hard. For example in my 108 class 70% have a grade less than a c-. However the average is a 62. Does anyone know if they curve the 108 class. I ended up with a 76 on the test.
