It doesn’t say final stage, that is what Admissions said. Call them and ask - I reached them quickly and they were very pleasant.
It has almost been 12 “official” weeks for me and I have heard nothing. People in my school were starting to get accepted and they applied after me, so I was wondering what was up with that. I called admissions and the lady who answered the phone said “oh wow, I’ve never seen it go this long without any decision” and said she would email my admissions counselor directly to give her a “nudge.” I called two days later and my admissions counselor was very nice, and told me she understood the struggle of waiting because she is an alum. She said that according to her records it has only been 11 weeks, but told me to expect a decision by March 1st, and if I hadn’t heard she told me to call asap. Although at first I was very upset and felt almost forgotten because I had been hearing of people waiting as little 6 weeks to get a decision, once I spoke to them they were all very nice. I urge anyone who has been waiting more than 11-12 weeks to call and speak with an advisor. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
We are in the same exact boat as you, drumpf15 - applied back in October; and still waiting.
Anybody’s portal down?
drumpf15, are you OOS? Should we OOS people take this personally
Yep, portal’s down, nelson97.
Waiting over 12 weeks; OOS; Business (undecided). Decedent scores/grades/ECs
Applied November, OOS, still no decision. I called last week and was told by admissions that when any new documents get sent to UDel changes the start date to a new one for application review. (i…e anything they add to a file like mid year grades or new recommendation letters ,etc) and that decisions could come out March/April because of that as one of the reasons. I would hope it would not add on 8-12 more weeks, but recently sent new info could add on to the date when they will review / re-review applications. Did anyone hear anything similar?
@stayinpositive I would recommended calling! They were very nice and you could hopefully get some answers if you call. @kristinww yes I’m OOS, starting to get very frustrated
@tennisgirl6 - WHAT??? I did hear that the outgoing admissions director tried to fix their system, but instead made it worse, which is why he’s leaving after 2 years.
Wait, I know this question has come up a few times but I forgot. What does it mean if in the portal, under decision it says “once a decision is finalized, official notification will be sent via mail”…?
I think that means you’re in
@kristinww Intresting. I’m sure UDel admissions working very hard (like all schools admissions) but I wish their system didnt penalize people by changing the completed application date for the date mid year grades received and processed into the file (or any new info changes the date I was told). Going from Nov to a Feb completed date is disappointing. They said this year # of applications even bigger then last year and extra competitive for some majors. They havent even made decisions on strong OOS honors candidates in some cases yet.
@kristinww but if I got accepted, wouldn’t they have just put that I got in on the portal instead of saying I’ll find out through the mail?
@drumpf15 - I think they all say that at some point to cover themselves. A couple of years ago several students saw that they were accepted somewhere on their portal, and it was a mistake (a heartbreaking one at that) and so now they make sure to say official notification comes by mail. FWIW, my daughter’s has said that for about 3-4 weeks.
Don’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade, @drumpf15 and @kristinww, but my son’s portal changed almost more than a month ago to “once a decision…” and that was followed by a letter saying they needed more info before a decision and are awaiting his first semester grades (they also suggest more test scores, but he’s done taking SATs). So unfortunately it doesn’t mean “you’re in.” Hope we all hear good news (which, of course, won’t come as quickly as we’d like!)
@brucemag - same for us. Change in status, then letter asking for mid-year grades, extra SAT’s, etc. We had no other SAT’s to send. They have updated transcript and were very nice when i called and said to be patient…her application is in “re-evaluation.” Good luck to everyone - we want good news as well. I have two sons who are current students, she would love to be a Blue Hen like her brothers.
I just spoke to the parents to clarify. All three received their yellow envelope a few days after the “once the decision” appeared in their portals. Two got into the Honors program. However, all three are in-state, did not re-take tests, and applied early. They also did not wait as long for a decision. This was the last school to which my son applied as it was low on his list, so I think we’re going to make a decision this weekend and not wait for UDel. Good luck, Everyone!
Thanks for the info everyone! My mid year grades were already sent in, I don’t have any other test scores to send, and I really don’t know what else I’d send. That’s pretty upsetting but I guess all I can do is hope for the best! I’ll be sure to post when I hear more news.
All of my materials were submitted by December 2nd, and my application did not become “complete” until January 14th. Was expecting a decision around this time or earlier, but instead will have to wait at least a couple more weeks. And UD is my number one choice!
