Hello,

We are a new organization looking to recruit Africans and those from the Caribbean. Our aim is to assist these young people with obtaining a college education here in America. Could you tell me if there are sites where we can solicit academically sound and talented young people from these regions.

Wow, I was really inspired when I first got to the thread. I had never encountered Nigerians applying to such elite schools. I’m currently in SS2 in Rainbow College, Lagos (rainbowcollege.org) and hope to study business at Cornell, UPenn, or NYU when I graduate. I have a 5.0 GPA, have not taken the SAT yet, but I am practising hard. Is there any advice I can get to use when applying to college.
And one more question… Do most Nigerian high school graduates have to spend a year at home before college because they have missed the application deadlines?

well most do-stay at home for a year- and I could give u advise but I have to start my math hwork…but PM me later…I would assume you are considering WHarton and stern…dont know if cornell has a business school for undergrad…u shuld also consider my skul-georgetown MSB they have good undergrad business-we used to be recruited by all the major financial institutions can’t say much because of the economic crisis.

princejay93 - you don’t have to spend a year at home before going to the US but most nigerians do. it’s kind of hard to do both at the same time while in school, cos you got to focus on WASSCE, JAMB and the like. however, i had a couple of friends who planned early and actually resumed in the US after the holiday.

so it’s kind of up to you. if you start early, take the SAT I and II preferably over the summer, before SS3 actually starts and take care of your applications etc, then that’s great. but if you’d rather finish up first, before starting the application business, fine as well.

Any class of 2017 Nigerians on CC?

yep, one nigerian here, schools applying to:
Oberlin College
Cornell University
Colby College
Howard University and 2 others(ashamed to write it-super safeties)

^Shouldn’t the decisions be out already. I’m a Nigerian too, Cornell 2017 Baby!
