Any of your kids do the ACT run online prep?

We have the big book. But since it is so reasonably priced I was thinking of buying the online version too. DDs liked online prep for the SAT.

Don't do it.

It's pretty much an expensive practice test. It didn't really help me much at all. I don't know why they call it a "prep course".

really? Wow thanks for the information. Do you have any recommendations for courses that are good?

I only did the ACT-run version...my sister did the REAL ACT one and liked it a lot. :)

ACT isn't very popular where I live, so I don't know too much about it. But at least in my school, the students who did well in school did well on the ACT. (ie I got all As in English and got a 34 on the English portion of the ACT.)

My son used the online prep. He likes sitting at the computer better than sitting with a book. he wasn't the most faithful user, but his score went up 3 points, which was huge for him. If I can get him to work on math, he might get his score up another point or two, which will allow him to get him instate tuition at his favorite school.

cangel...was it the one that you buy from ACT?

ACT needs very little prep. As mentioned above, if you did well in school, you will do well on ACT (which seems NOT necessarily the case with SAT). Little practicing math from the book was enough for my D. She did not practice anything else, it seemed to be futile to improve Readng in few weeks. English section was very easy - she got 35, while Reading was the hardest (was only 28, oh well, we knew that it would be low). it is important to keep cool during exam, do not let anything bother you, and you will do fine.

My to be Junior son has started going to number2.com for ACT prep - it's free and decent.

Not to highjack the thread, but does anyone else suggest specific ACT prep avenues? We'd mostly be interested in online things....
