Any other Caltech Rejects?

getting into caltech with full financial aid for international is very very much difficult...that might be the possible reason for my rejection

It seems that there are lots of people who love MIT way more than Caltech and the only reason why a Caltech rejection has affected them is a possible rejection from MIT as well.

I fall into this category.

pacific34, I did retake the subjects. The first time I got 690 for Math2 and 700 for Physics. Then taking them the second time, I couldn't get to sleep the night before the SAT and it all came during the SAT. I didn't have any red bull on the hand and so I screwed up. I actually raised physics because I took it first, but my head was totally off at Math.
I still hope it'll be enough for MIT

ahh.. count another caltech reject over here!! But I wasn't expecting acceptance being international with no good awards or anything...haha I put way more effort into my MIT app.... but I'll most likely still be rejected...oh well! It's surprising how much you discover about yourself during this whole application process =P

same here. I just saw the new post on MIT admission Blog
Im really nervous right now

Any of you guys receive news from MIT yet?

nothing yet...waiting.....oh my god, Im so so nervous...

My daughter was rejected at Caltech EA, and deferred at MIT. She didn't put a lot of effort into the Caltech application, probably because my wife didn't want her traveling so far from NY. I'm at work today so will be waiting for a text message around noon when she checks the MIT site.

I was rejected from Caltech too. The reasons, I think were that I didnt put a lot of effort into Caltech app and that Im an international student asking for financial aid...I dont know what my chances are for MIT, but I wish, I hope to get accepted...

What do you mean, didn't put in alot of effort into Caltech? Are you talking about the short answers or the common app essay? My essays were sloppy, and that's the only reason I can find as to why they'd reject me.

I mean the short answers...they were kind of weird...but I didnt care much about my rejection..Caltech wasnt my first choice...

Yep :)
I was rejected EA, and deferred from MIT EA

Back for Round 2!

I'm kind of curious, when all of you say "I didn't put too much effort into my Caltech app," what do you mean? Did you just not spend time on the essays or proofreading them? I'd also like to know why there's this difference in effort.

As far as I can recall from when I applied last year, MIT had fewer essays than Caltech, but I was able to recycle two essays relatively easily and only had to write one extra Caltech essay.
