I already submitted my SIR to UCSD but right now i have a D in ap calc ab
i still have time to drop out of the class with a W on my transcript.
is it better to drop the class or get a D and try to appeal?
Thanks

^GET THE W… a D will almost guarantee you will be rescinded!!!

If i get the W, what are the steps i should take to notifying ucsd?
Also, how likely is it that i will be revoked if i have the W?
Thank You.

Notify UCSD about dropping the class asap at academicchanges@ad.ucsd.edu
I talked to an admissions counselor about whether a W would result in my acceptance being revoked and he said no.

@graciee Direct deposit is basically putting your bank account information into tritonlink. So whenever you have extra financial cash, they directly place it into your bank account rather than sending a check out.

I go to Warren as an engineering major. I passed AP Eng lang with a 3. Would passing Eng Lit be beneficial in any way to me for GEs?

@AndrewL Honestly? Nope. AP Eng Lang = 8 units, so you won’t get anymore units nor will you get to pass out of any GEs.

1) How hard are GE’s at ERC?
2) What is the average class size for freshmen classes at ERC?
3) How hard is it to get above a 3.7+ ?
4) What does a typical freshmen year schedule look like?

To answer question 3.

Top 2%: Summa Cum Laude 3.885-4.000

Following 4%: Magna Cum Laude 3.774-3.884

Following 8%: Cum Laude 3.623-3.773

Having a 3.623 GPA places you in the top 14%.

Did anyone get an e-mail from UCSD requesting you to consider changing colleges?

- How hard are GE’s at ERC?
This is a weirdly-worded question. There are many GEs required - I think it’s around 20, if that’s what you’re referring to. For the MMW series (6 quarters), generally it’s easy to get a B, hard to get an A. For the rest of your GEs you choose what classes you take. So you could take Math 10A to fulfill part of the math requirement, which will be more difficult than Making and Breaking Codes (which also fulfills part of the math requirement). I hope this makes sense.

2) What is the average class size for freshmen classes at ERC?
MMW lectures have around 200-300 students in them, as do most lower-division GEs such as math, chem, etc. Your individual discussion sections that meet with a TA will have anywhere from 15-40ish students.

3) How hard is it to get above a 3.7+ ?
Very hard. Especially if you’re a science major. This isn’t high school, B’s are given out frequently, and a 3.7 is an A-.

4) What does a typical freshmen year schedule look like?
Depends on major. Many freshmen take chem, math, writing courses, and GEs.

i Just found out on midnight of today that the deadline for the financial aid verification worksheet for priority funding was May 1st. i couldnt even call the financial aid office to fingure things out since they are closed on Sundays.

i know that i would have to fax them my information first thing afterschool tommorow, but how will this affect my financial aid? will i still get my blue and gold oppertunity aid? will they be deduced from the estimate i would have received?

i come from a low income single mother family so i really need this aid, and i would dread my life if i had to decline going to ucsd because i made a last minute mistake of not turning in some paperwork… somebody help meeee :[

I think you’ll get the aid, but they’re definitely taking some money away.

Unfortunately, you might not be eligible for blue/gold, pell grant, or subsidized loans anymore.

I think the fa deadline should be posted on the main ucsd page myself, because its pretty easy to accidentally overlook it. However, you can send in a petition request thing explaining why you missed the deadline, and they can determine if they will still give you the full aide.

I suggest faxing in the required forms asap, then getting this waiver and sending it in with a (good) excuse. Good luck, I know fa is really stressful

If Tritonlink didnt ask for deposit when I sent the SIR, do I still have to pay it later? If so, when?

i called them and they told me that i would have to write a letter of appeal to the director of financial aid.
the problem is i dont have a good exuse… will it be pointless if i just be honest and told them that i messed up? (with more rhetoric ofcourse) Or do i have to be deceptive about this and tell them a lie? which i would really hate to do…
cant i just appeal through the phone? if it has to be in writing does it need to be on paper or email? i dont kno what to do… i cant afford to lose this aid.

and also does anyone know the name of the director of financial aid in ucsd?

no you don’t. the SIR fee was waived

What are the main differences between the three res halls in Warren? Which one is better, in your opinion?

@orangeicecream

Location mainly and view. Stewart has the most floors so there are a lot more people in that hall than in Harlan or Frankfurter. Frankfurter has an amazing view when the sun sets. Harlan’s the furthest away and the canyon is right behind it. The type of hall that each hall is (party hall, study hall, blah blah) differs each year so I can’t really say much about that. There’s no dramatic differences except maybe that Stewart 1st floor is the honors floor and it has a killer honors lounge. But the first floor of Harlan has a pool table and Frankfurter has something similar to Harlan.

@orangeicecream

They’re all the same.
