Any Questions about UCSD?

@nerdinucsd - if you want to live up to your username, take those 5 classes.

Oh ucsandiego915, you’re so silly.

heeeeeeheeeeeheeeee

lol…Im not THAT nerdy :stuck_out_tongue:

But really…do u think it is a lot of work with 20 units?

Seriously I took 13 units my first quarter. You don’t understand yet, but college is really hard. it’s not like high school. I still got mediocre grades my first quarter just because I was still adjusting.

On a side note, I took 20 units this last quarter and I didn’t go out or do anything once. NEVER AGAIN

U making it sounds really scary -________-
i guess i will take 16 units then.

No I don’t mean to scare you but honestly UCSD is very difficult, college is just a huge change from high school for most people. Classes are rigorous and you don’t want to sacrifice your GPA to take more units. You’ll understand sooooon enough :)

does anyone take more than 5? or do they make you drop? (out of curiosity, maybe some people just plan on not having a life)

Oh there’s definitely a unit cap and it’s either 24 or 27. Yeah some people are nuts. I think I would have a mental breakdown by week 2

Anyone in ERC, what is the area study? I have the UCSD pamphlet thing but it really doesn’t explain it.

Anyone is Revelle, is HUM as interesting as it sounds (coming from someone who enjoys history)?

Lastly, If I have no idea what I want to major in, would it be better to go to a college with more GEs or less GEs?

@nerdinucsd

That sounds painful, but you can try it out for a couple weeks and then drop a class if you need to.

@JeSuis

Essentially you want to pick the college with the GEs you would like to take. So pretty much, with less GEs.

Well with more GEs, I would be forced to take a variety of classes and hopefully find out what i enjoy. But with less GEs, I would be able to explore lower devision classes that might interest me. I’m reluctant to put Muir as my first choice because I feel like that’s where all of the partiers will be at. That probably sounds rude… sorry.

I still had a life, too. I worked 2 paying jobs; 4 of the units went towards TAing; 4 others went towards research; I volunteered in another lab; and I still found a way to go out weekends with friends or go photograph stuff for fun. After a certain point in your major, content will begin to get redundant and as long as you actually know the material from previous classes, you’ll find that you can load up on classes without much problem. Then again, my freshman year, I had trouble taking 12 units because I was too involved in my frat and didn’t see the need to ever go to class, so all that was my fault.

hi guys, im in trouble with the UCSD financial aid office cuz i didnt turn in the verification form on the deadline. So i had to write a letter of appeal so i could get full funding. Its been 3 months and i havnt heard from the financial aid office.

is there anyone here who still did not get their official financial aid award yet?

@JeSuis

I think each college has a fairly equal number of partiers and non-partiers. Also, you fill out a roommate preference questionnaire so you can put like “not tolerant of drinking” or “likes room clean” or whatever your preferences may be. I would just honestly put down the colleges you think you’ll most enjoy taking the GEs from.

xxmsp91: You should be worried because all the financial aid packages are out. This also means that you should hear a response from UCSD soon regarding your financial aid.

haha Glad to here that Oyama

to slowmotionzx:
ive been searching around this forum and it looks like there are students who havnt received their financial aid package yet. ive been told that there’s a mishap going on at the financial aid office and they’re not taking any calls rite now.

Can people in different colleges request each other as room mates?

Not until 2nd year with inter-college apartments.
