Hi. Incoming First Year. I was wondering would it be difficult for me to take an elective alongside 3 courses most likely consisting of math, physics, and writing. I’m looking into taking beginning ballet. The only thing I’m worried about is getting a B in that elective and that messing up my GPA for applying to the 7 yr pharm. prog. So is the ballet class difficult or is it more of a have fun class and get a good grade?

Do all incoming freshman have to take TB tests or any other tests again before school starts?

@hellobeautiful Honestly, it depends. The first quarter is hard on many freshmen because quite frankly, you’re in college! Most people just want to relax and have fun so they let their academic life fall behind what they want it to be at. If you’re so worried about that elective, you could always take it P/NP. Which ballet class were you planning on taking, btw?

can we pay our bills with a credit card? my mom gets like points or something so she wants me to find out, but ucsd’s website says no, i was jw if it’s different if i pay in person.

Nope. I believe it’s just check or eCheck. I would have been reaping 3% cashback rewards on my AmEx card had this worked.

Paying in person is either cash or a check. If they let you used credit card…oh man cashback would be amazing…

Is it possible to take a language class for P/NP?

Yes, it’s possible to take a language class for p/np.

Does the Res hall provide AC? LOL.

I was just wondering if i should bring a little fan lol.

What are the language classes (specifically Spanish) like?

@nerdinucsd

Some do, some don’t. Bringing a small desk fan wouldn’t be a bad idea.

sorry ahead of time if people have already asked this question, but I really don’t want to read through 56 pages. ><

what is UCSD’s psychology major like and is it hard to get in?

Does an AP score of 3 allow me to skip the Chemistry placement exam? It just says “exempts Chem. 4 or 11” but I don’t know about the placement exam -.-

^The Chemistry Placement Exam isn’t mandatory to take and just recommends on what Chem class you should start in.

@greenpear What do you mean what is it like? It’s not impacted so no.

Hi I’m an incoming freshman and am looking at potential schedules with the class planner.

Would it be do-able to go from Muir (HSS) to Warren (WLH) if those classes are back-to-back? What about biking?

Is taking Chem 4 fall quarter a waste of time? or should i go straight into Chem 6A.
But if I do take Chem 4 in fall, then that would mean i would be off track right? how hard is taking Chem 6C in the summer?

@Fringe If it takes you 20 minutes to walk a mile, it’ll take you approx. 11 minutes to get to WLH from HSS. So it’s doable.

@diablonecros Just go straight into Chem 6A. The only chem experience I had was high school chem (10th grade) which taught me nothing at all and I did ok/fine in 6A.

@Fringe

You’ll make it walking. You can also make it anywhere on campus in 10 minutes on a bike too. Plus it’s straight downhill from HSS to WLH so you’ll get there ridiculously fast on a bike.

Thanks for the answers, both of you!
