Is it possible to get from SEQUO 148 to PCYNH 109 in 10 minutes? according to the timed map thing, it takes about 12 minutes and 40 seconds to get there. But if I speedwalk, can I make it? because I don’t want to change my schedule.

and CNTR 101 means University Center, right?

hmm okay i guess I’ll switch that class then…I’d just rather have two classes on monday and three on wednesday than three on mon and two on wed.
thanks!

Thanks for the reply on bringing a car, that’s good to hear. lol

BTW Ledden Hall (or Auditorium?) to Pepper Canyon Hall isn’t too bad is it? I might have 10 minutes to get there, but that campus map says it’s a little over 11 minutes. It shouldn’t be too bad right? lol

Anybody familiar with Mus 4 (Intro to Western Music), Mus 11 (Folk Music), or Lign 7 (Sign Language)? I have the Mus final and Lign final on the same day, so are these classes easy enough that I can handle two finals that are just half an hour apart?

I got a 3 on the AP Calculus Exam. Does that mean I have to take math 20A? It says on the AP sheet that I get 2 units credit for math 20A or something…what does that mean? I rather skip 20A if i can…

I have a question about prerequisites for classes.

Some upper-div classes listed in the catalog don’t include any Prerequisites in the description. Does this mean that I don’t need any pre-required classes, and that I only need upper-div standing?
btw, the catalog says “Minimum requirement for all upper-div courses is at least 1 quarter of lower-div poli sci, or upper-div standing.”

Let’s say I want to take an upper-division POLI class that falls under the “American Politics” branch (we’ll say that class is POLI 100H). Then do I only need upper-division standing to take POLI 100H, or do I also need POLI 10 (Intro to Am Politics)?

I realize that for a PoliSci major I would need 3 intro classes to fulfill the lower-div major req, but it seems that if I simply want to take POLI 100H as opposed to get a PS major/minor, then I only need upper-div standing. I’d just like to verify this. thank you.

What happens if two finals are at the same time? Can you reschedule a final or do I just have to change the classes so that there are no conflicts in final times?

not every upper-division class has a prerequisite. if there’s none listed on the catalog, then you’re cleared to enroll for it (assuming the class isn’t restricted to majors or anything). as for the “1 quarter of LD polisci OR upper-division standing” … it says “or” …

as for the simultaneous finals, it’s not going to be a problem. most professors have at least a few students take them early/late for various reasons. email then at the very beginning of the quarter and remind them occasionally until they actually give you an alternative time, otherwise they’ll forget.

@californiagurl92 - why don’t you just take 20A and 20B at the same time?

@graciee - the majority of my finals never took the whole 3 hours. most professors (in chemistry at least) design them to be taken in 2 hours or less.

I was looking at a map of the campus and I was wondering if the the 100 building of sixth res halls was more secluded and separate than the rest of the buildings that surround the big grass quad?

So if we take chem 6a with Johnson and math 10, which happen to have finals at the same time it won’t be a problem? What if the professors don’t want to let us take the final at another time?

That’s when the deans of your college need to step in. Talk to your professors as soon as school starts. Presumably there will be several others in your situation – band together and make a case, you’d be surprised what you can change.

During my junior year, we succeeded in moving our 10AM chem 114A lecture from PCYNH to Center, because there were something like 40 of us consistently arriving late to our 11AM chem 126 lecture in HSS.

During move-in, i am required to have a photo ID. Would a high school ID work? Or does it have to me a state registered ID? Another question, what else would i need a state registered ID for that a school ID can’t do?

yeah, a high school ID’s fine for move-in. (they’ll figure out whether you’re an impostor soon enough)

a lot of stores check IDs when you pay with credit card, and i’m pretty sure a government-issued ID is the only thing that can cut it. if you decide to fly, you’ll need a government-issued ID. it may be worth your while just to get one now …

and when you’re 21, other issues may arise ;)

@paradise and astrina
Thanks. I have my license test soon, but i wont get my license in the mail in time if i pass so i need to get through a few weeks at school (:
