For Econ, will I need the book with the Connect Code? I have Xie.

any insight on joining/pledging to fraternities?

What does it mean if I can’t find a person in the UCSD students directory? That it hasn’t been updated or that that person is not enrolled? Does anyone know? Thanks.

you can request to be taken out of the directory as well.

I emailed Professor Xie about the Econ 1 textbook and this was the response:
“We will not use Connect Plus this quarter. Instead, we will be using Aplia.”

Questions:

How many credits are needed to become a sophomore?

I was only able to enroll in 3 classes this quarter. Is this considered part-time?

Do most students take 4 or 5 classes each quarter?

Thanks in advance.

If you are enrolled in less than 12 units, you’re considered part-time. Usually 3 classes is the minimum you can enroll in to be a full time student, if each class is 4 units each.

I was under the impression from both my counselor and my cousins in college that it’s better to be enrolled in 4 classes. That way, if one of them is too hard, you can drop it and still be considered a full time student.

I’d also like to know how many credits are needed before you’re considered a sophomore :] I don’t know if I can enroll in my freshman seminar with all my outside credits…

sooo, what’s aplia? i think i’ll just buy my book when i get to campus so i know i’m getting the right one

is the health fee waiver supposed to be submitted by sep 17 or is it supposed to be finalized by then?

@nerdy123 and momosky

Sophomore standing is 45 units. You can take freshmen seminars if you don’t have freshman standing, you just have to wait until the last freshman sign up time starts.

@xxpanda

It should be finalized by then. Submit it now.

^^ Thank you.

How many units are given for each AP from high school?

@nerdy123: It varies from 4-8 units depending on the subject. You can also have no more than 8 units per subject; e.g. I took both CalcAB and CalcBC, but instead of receiving 12 units I received 8.

[Advanced Placement Credit](http://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/front/APCredit.html) :)

I just found out today (after the deadline to change move-in times for Warren students) that I am more than likely not going to be able to move in on time. Well I can but my parents who are helping me move in won’t be able to make it on time so what can be done at this point? Do they have any other time for me to move in or something? (like I said I can be there myself but I won’t have a parent or licensed person to wait in the car while I move stuff in)

^Get in touch with your room mates \suite mates and request if one of them is willing to
help out by sitting in your car while you move in. You have to trust and make new friends sooner or later - Now is the time.

I definitely understand where you’re coming from and I agree, I’m going to get to know all them well. But unfortunately the car I’m taking doesn’t have enough room to carry everything >.< See I was going to drive my car up there (the one that I’m keeping there) and my parents were going to take our truck to carry the stuff but they might not be able to do that and I can’t fit the stuff in my car. Gah this is frustrating lol

if you bring your essentials with you in your car, you can check in and get your keys (a.k.a.“move-in on time”) and move in the stuff you brought with you. then if your parents come a few days later with the rest of your stuff, no ones going to be like “no you can’t bring that in here now you were supposed to move in already”. it might just look sorta funny.
if they can’t drive their truck at all, then you’ll probably have to shell out quite a bit of money to get a uhaul or some sort of trailer

Thanks for the info to you too, I think that’s what I’ll do if anything. I can bring clothes and stuff lol And could they come in later in the day to bring things like a mini fridge for me to bring up without being stopped or something? lol

of course! move in day is not really a day as it is a few days. i moved in two days early last year and i would watch people move in and it gets crazy. no one will even notice.

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but can we apply to more than one dining hall at one time?

yes you can. and no its not a stupid question. hahaha
