If my move in time is 11 am, would it be alright to come in later at like 3 pm?

yes 10 char

For the warren writing program, how long do students in 10A need their books for? They have a reading assignment from a book called Connected that will be theme for the fall 2010 writing course. It’s not used for next quarter so it’s not going to be easy to sell it (wasn’t used previous quarter so can’t find a deal that way either). I’m sure it’s well worth the money, but it’d be nice to spend that money on something else.

Hmm so we should read that book then chaos0awaits? lol I guess I need to order it now then haha

I decided to drop out of WCWP10A since the wait list is not moving. Planning to substitute with HILD7A as a GE. My Question is How easy or tough is HILD7A. Should I take it for P\NP or letter grade.

My course load will be – Chem6A, ECE15, Math20C, HILD7A as a freshman.

we pay tuition quarterly, right? since it changes depending on the amount of classes we have?

but housing we can pay in full right now to avoid that $31 (or something like that) quarterly charge, right?

thus, i pay housing in full plus this quarter’s tuition right now?

thanks.

^You pay tuition quarterly, but it doesn’t depends on how many classes you take. It’s always the same.

I’m on the waitlist (#1) for my spanish class, and it’s been a couple of weeks now. Should I email my prof and ash her to put me in kindly?

why don’t you wait until after the first class to see if people drop? because she won’t do it now - she’s never met you and you’re but a random name out in cyberspace. they created the class size cap for a reason - if they had room for n+1 they would’ve set the cap there.

in addition - the section’s led by a graduate student. in the foreign languages, you’ll almost never have an encounter with an actual professor.

^Just curious, why is that? What are the professors doing instead?

^ they’re doing research in their field to maintain the high academic standards of ucsd. they’re getting less pay for more work.
and for one professor to be expected to teach a lecture of 200+ people and THEN re-teach everyone during discussion is insane. hahah.
and most professors have multiple lectures/classes a day.

Dumb question, but the UCSD bookstore sells general school supplies, right? I’ll be flying down to SD so I won’t really have much room to bring a whole bunch of extra binder paper, notebooks, etc.

^Yeah they do. There’s a Staples close by if you want too.

I’m a freshman trying to sign up for a Freshman Seminar (VIS 87). WebReg is giving me this and barring me from registering:

This section isn’t open to your class level. For restriction information, click the ‘R’ column in the online Schedule of Classes listings.

What?!

@92faim If you’re coming in with 45+ units (from AP tests or other college-level classes) you’d be considered a freshman with sophomore standing and so WebReg won’t let you register for freshman seminars. Even if this isn’t the case, just do this (taken from [here](http://www.ucsd.edu/current-students/academics/enroll/seminars/one-unit-seminars.html)) and they’ll take care of it for you:

^Hm, that’s strange. I had sophomore standing last year as a freshman and I was allowed to sign up for freshman seminars after the end of freshman enrollment. I guess they changed it then.

@92faim

Which of the subjects do you plan to take? Professor Gorin is, well, interesting. He’s definitely not for most people.

Is there an on campus grocery store or like a cvs pharmacy?

eltagra,
Thanks so much.

$KingsElite$,
That’s what I find odd too, because I’m definitely not at sophomore standing. I’m debating between the VIS 87 seminars, but what is it you had to say about Gorin?

About how many units should a freshmen enter with if s/he wants a good enrollment time later on?

^Well, he’s vulgar, belittling, and critical about anything. But, he’s a genius in the subject. I took Leave Them Laughing last year, and it sucked. Over half the class dropped after the first day.

Hmmm that does sound like the French. did VIS 87 suck because so many people dropped out, or because of how Gorin conducted the class? because I wouldn’t mind being in a seminar with less people, but if it sucks because of him then I think i’ll pass. Thanks for the help!
