I am a 10 grader taking SAT math 1 and 2 on june 5th. Also I am taking the ACT the week after that. Any advice? I know this is an SAT forum, but I just thought I'd mention the ACT...I've had up to precalc for math. I need high scores on all tests, would like to go to MIT. 800's and a 36 would be great, but upper 700's and 32+ would be good too. The reason I am taking these tests soon is because for the next two years I am taking calc and this is my last year of algebra stuff. Any thing I can do between now and june 5th to get a higher score would be great!

why do you want to do both Math I and II?

I think you only need to do Math II

I am taking both because MIT just needs one. Their official statement is they have no preference. Math 1 is easier, but graded on a stricter curve, if you get 1 point off, its a 780. Math level 2 is harder but graded on a more lenient curve, so if you miss like 4 or 5 points you can still get a 800. Taking both to get best score possible.

Many CCers say that Math Level 1 is harder even disregarding the curve.

I heard that Math I is tricky math. As silverturtle said, it’s harder than Math II.

From people who took Math II, they say that a calculator and basic Pre calculus is all you need to get an 800. A friend of mine studied for 4 hours and got an 800. Another friend pull an all-nighter before the test and got a 760. The former is very good at math, the latter… not so much.

Yes, the test is relatively straightforward.
