Any Suggestions for future transfer students

Hi,

for those of you who are transfering to UCs on next semester( Fall, 2006),

can you guys give some suggestions or ideas that might help the future transfer students????
and I am planning to apply for transfer in 2006 (for Fall 2007) ..as Econ or Math Major...do you guys have any specific suggestions that you can give me...I really want to go to UCLA or UC Berkeley...
thanks

p.s. Congrats to all of you!!! Good Job!

Have a high G.P.A., and a good essay. Most importantly, always get second opinions from your counselors. I got screwed because of his inability to accurately count my AP credits, because of this I get to transfer in winter (with a contract) instead of this coming fall.

thanks..that happened to me, too... I passed five AP exams but then first JC I went to, (Cypress College), the counselor told me that I can only use them for my electrive credits and in order to meet requirements for IGETC, I need to take those classes at Cypress College...so I decided to move to Golden West Community collegeand over there, I talked to the counselor and he said I would be able to use those AP credits for the IGETC...I was so happy...any ways thanks for the comment...

I have another questions...
I am planning to apply as either Econ or Math major...for Econ major I know I will complete all the pre-req by the time I apply but for Math, I need until Spring Semester of 2006 in order to meet all the requirements... which major will give me a bit more chance to get accepted..btw my gpa right now is 3.8 ish...and I hope to either maintain it or bring it up more...if I can...thanks

Ask Ask and Ask again about the requirements., I was lucjily accepted to UCLA but rejected from UCSB because of having too many units (92 total) despite the fact that my cc counselor told me I was fine. Make sure you get your info straight from the horse's mouth meaning the admissions office at the schools you'll be applying to. Prepeare your essay ahead of time and have someone who knows you well get a look. Most importantly for UCLA have all your major requirements completed by the time you apply they weigh heavily on this fact better to have an IGETC course in progress than a class in your major. That's it the rest is pretty much common sense maintain a high gpa, get involved on campus orgs and get a leadership role, volunteer work would help also if you have the time and definately apply early don't want to wait last minute because the sites do tend to crash. Good luck to all you future Bruins, Cal Bears, Gauchos, Anteaters, Banana slugs, Tritons, and future '06 and '07 UC applicants see you when you get here. Latez.

how big a deal is it if you can't take one of your major classes till the Spring semester? In my case, it isn't available until then...

for ur math major, just ace all ur core classes(math phys chem) thats what i did , i got in as physics major at ucla, overall only 3.5 no EC's, but i had a good essay as well
