Hello, I’m hoping to apply this Fall 2016. I cannot use a tag, because I accidently used it a year ago and was declined. I’m looking mostly for advice, if I can get into a UC for the Fall 2017 cycle, or if I should wait…
Stats:
CCC (Bay Area) for three years now (that’s why I really want to transfer)
Anthropology Major (getting associates): 4.0 in major classes
cGPA: 2.71 (retaking two classes that I received D’s in, should bump up to a 2.93 afterwards)
Did badly for two semesters, many C’s that I cannot retake. I don’t know how much more I can up my gpa.
I hope to go to UC Davis.
Okay EC’s.
IGETC completed
Is there anything I should/can do to raise GPA? Or you think somewhere will accept me? I’m aiming for a 4.0 during summer session and fall (and of course spring 2017), will this help? Thank you ahead of time.
@laccstudent I just used an online calculator for transferable gpa and it looks like I’m at a 2.84 (which includes the 2 Ds that I earned, so it will go up once I retake those classes).
My first semester at community college, I definitely messed up by not focusing. Unfortunately, I received primarily C’s instead of D’s, which I could not retake. However, I did retake the classes I could during Fall 2015 when I was applying for transfer. Fortunately for me, I turned in my UC application in January 2016 due to the extension, which meant I had the opportunity to input my Fall 2015 grades (I got a 4.0)! This boosted me up to a 3.3 GPA.
I got accepted to three out of the four CSU’s I applied to as a mathematics major: San Jose State, San Francisco State, and Cal State Long Beach. I was also accepted to UC Irvine as Economics, UC San Diego as undeclared, and am currently waitlisted at UC Berkeley.
I am in no place to chance you. But if you work really hard this summer and fall, it will definitely pay off. I definitely should have taken summer classes last year. Best of luck!
Alright berry, how about if you exclude those two D’s? I’m sure those D’s will be made into B or A.
However, let’s exclude them now to calculate your GPA.
