premed: The city of La Jolla has a law that forbids fraternity houses...

i really want to go to UCSD but i'm realy considering Santa Clara University as well (which has no fraternities and not known for its social life either)

so far i've been accepted to two schools where there is no social life.. damnit

i still haven't gotten my acceptance! It says that my application is under review.. is anyone else on the same boat as me? good thing i already have admission to davis and irvine!

hi guys i just transfered to ucsd last year fall 07.

I was 21 when I transfered here. i didn't find it to be a problem, because almost all of my friends here were 21 as well (but seniors), so i got to enjoy the night life right away.

if you haven't gotten admitted yet, there is still hope, i was accepted really late last year. as for apts..try look for ones close to a campus shuttle because those buses come every 5-10mins. almost all apts around campus will have bad reviews, it's just something you have to deal with for apts here.

if i were you i would just go to sun god to get an actual feel for UCSDs campus (its actually not a representation of our campus haha but fun as hell). i actually went to sun god and admit day last year though :D

i can't help you with finding roommates, try friends of friends, fb, craigslist, etc..

I know...the uc transfer thread is flooded with worried ucla applicants...i didn't apply to ucla, so it's kind of annoying to see 3 pages of ucla stuff...why can't it go in the ucla forum???

I was also accepted at UCSD as a transfer student and I am from the bay. I'm 20 now, but I'll be 21 in July...

As seems to be the case among most in this thread, I don't know anyone in San Diego so housing is sorta up in the air...I guess that's what I'll try to be figuring out on transfer admit day (where to live, who to live with (like..how to find these people), etc!) Maybe all of us should get a big house and just live in it haha

Also...for those people who go to UCSD, I want to know what you usually do outside classes and school life... like whenever you have free time during the day (even if it's rare), what do you find yourself doing? What about at nights during the week? At night on the weekends (things for 21+ and any age)?

Just trying to get a feel for it as I don't know anything about the school socially though I've heard that it isn't the best...

Warrior2005, I'm from the bay and turning 21 too (well next year...).

I'm also probably visiting San Diego to figure out where I can live, etcetc. I tried asking my friends that go to San Diego what they do outside of school... and I heard it's either drinking (if you drink) or just eating with your friends or something.

Hi. I'm currently a UCSD student, and my boyfriend applied to transfer for Fall 2008. He still hasn't received an admissions decision, and we're both going crazy waiting for it. He currently goes to SF State, and I know that students at community college receive higher priority over students from 4-year institutions. Is there any hope of him getting in at this point?

Hmm, CSU to UC transfers are a little tough because they are further down the priority line; but it is still possible. What major did he apply to and what are his stats?

I transferred into Econ at UCSD from a CC with a 3.68, missing one calc class pre-req. The major isn't impacted, so that shouldn't be a problem. His GPA seems fine too, so again not really a problem. The only thing to worry about is the fact that he is coming from a CSU. The wait shouldn't be too much longer, 3 more days max!

still waiting on my decision, probably will find out april 30th? i turned 21 last december, 3 years at a cc, was one of those people that got held back a year due too being born late, so i'll almost be 22 by the time fall rolls around, sucks that they don't give on campus housing to transfers, i'm in the same boat as most or all tranfers, don't really know anybody or the area so yeah would be kind of hard to find housing. Feel kind of old when hearing about 17-18 year olds incoming freshman. Isn't there a shuttle that takes ucsd kids as well as sdsu and ucd to tj? since you only have to be 18 to drink there. I know someone who just graduated from ucsd and they said the town an get kind of boring once you've been there for a while, as the case with any town i guess. Heard social life wasn't the best......UC Social Dead?
