Any word on President's Scholar for the coming year?

Hi chemengineer12, what are your stats so I have an idea? Congratulations by the way :)

Wow that’s awesome. Congrats chemengineer! Are you a valedictorian or national merit scholar?

SAT: 2310 (800 Math, 750 CR, 760 WR)
Extracurricular: CSF president, Key Club President, Captain of Science Olympiad, First Chair violin
Essay: about why I despise how CSULB is always looked down upon when compared to schools like the UC’s…

I’m valedictorian  with a 4.56 weighted GPA, 12 AP classes

Wow Congrats! I really hope I find out by tomorrow. Nice stats! I’m concerned about the essay… Yours seemed like a good topic/idea XD

So I did get the letter today :frowning: waitlisted. That envelope was misleading

Sorry questgirl! At least you made the waiting list! How were your stats?

It’s okay…did you find out? Hope you had better news if you did
And true haha at least it wasn’t a flat out no…

And stats…

GPA: 4.25 out of 4.32
Test stuff:
SAT: 2050
ACT: 30
12 AP classes(6 this yr…sort of since 2 are semester classes)
13 tests total -passed all of them so far hmm one 3, one 4, rest 5s…

Essay: sucked :frowning: I had a really hard time with the prompt
Guessing this is what killed it
hmm Not a NMS… didn’t take the PSAT when we were supposed to XD
I forgot what else…and sadly I have done/won some more stuff but after I submitted my app…
Smittcamp scholarship, PG&E Brights Minds Finalist, other competition stuff…
wish this stuff had counted

Anyone know how to get off the waitlist?
Chances seem so slim since its just 30 spots…

Oops…badminton is not an award XD the post got a bit messed up…oh wells

Interesting… I live in Ontario and I still haven’t received anything at all.

You’ll probably hear tomorrow since the form stuff is due thurs

Thank you! Bummer about the essay, everything else looks really good! What’s your second choice?

Thanks  and well prob not as good as the person with the amazing SAT that got in XD
probably Smittcamp, which is like CSU Fresno’s version of the president’s scholars award at LB

What does the waitlist letter look like so I have an idea?

It kind of sucked because it gave me false hope; it’s a big envelope (like the UC acceptance type) and looks kinda fancy Ish with some positive words adorning the front…
Can you say disappointment?
I hope the rejections didn’t look like that…

Aww :frowning: I know what you mean. At least you were not rejected.

Yeah…but anyways, good luck guys haha
let me know what happens :)

waitlisted for my dd :(

Sorry to hear that  I asked about how their waitlist works but they were not very clear at all…what the lady said confused me. Maybe you can get better answers since you are a parent?

I’m not a Presidential Scholar, but here’s my 2 cents on this scholarship.

The two of you who got waitlisted have amazing stats. I’m surprised to hear you guys did not receive the scholarship. Hopefully, others will turn it down so you guys still have a chance of receiving it. Maybe I’m biased since I attend CSULB, but I think the Presidential Scholar Scholarship is amazing!!! I think those who receive should definitely consider CSULB. Your entire college experience will practically be paid for and you will not have trouble graduating in 4 years because you will have priority registration as a part of automatic acceptance to the Honors Program and thus can register for before all other students! I can not emphasize enough how important that is with CA’s budget affecting education everywhere! I’ve had several Honors classes with President Scholars and NONE of them have regretted their decision to choose CSULB instead of top tier UCs and private schools. And don’t worry about not being intellectually stimulated enough, Honor courses should cover aspect, especially upper division ones. Good luck to those waiting and I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your senior year.

Guess if I haven’t heard anything yet I’m out of luck?

GPA 4.69
Rank: 1
ACT - 32
SAT - 2180
