Any Word on the Summer Seminar Yet?

I had no idea where to put my flight time so I put it under civic involvement too.

Hey I've taken the ACT twice, should I have sent my best scores from each section or the best composite? I sent the best composite, but if I would've sent the best from each section I would have a 28 instead of a 27. What should I do? Call them?

Your Summer Seminar application counts as your PCQ so you don't need to fill out the PCQ.

I put my academic extracurriculars under academic achievement and then most of my other activities I had leadership positions in so I put it under leadership positions. I only put volunteer activities under civic.

Joshrk22- As I understand it, you send your highest scores in each subject. Thats what I did, and I'm very sure that is what they want.

What effect does the PCQ have on admission to the academy, since it's so early?

The PCQ tells them if you have the potential to be a competitive candidate.

o and when i take the SAT's in march, should I contact the admissions to update my PCQ with the new scores, or wait until it's application time to give them the new scores?

I would say to update whenever you can. Can't hurt. :)

And if you guys are wondering about the format of your resume, I can help you out. Apparently I did mine wrong (I was going off of what academyadmissions.com says) and my ALO forwarded me an example resume with the proper format. I don't mind passing it on.

Redhead,

Do you think it really matters now? All the info is in, not much you can really do about it now...

Not true, update if you can.

Did you guys really have 6-10 sentence long statements of desire? I thought that they wanted a resume-style application. Typically you will have your objective (stating that you want whatever job is being offered) at the beginning of the resume, and it is only 1 or 2 sentences. I followed this format and just said that it was my intent to pursue and secure an appointment to the AFA and upon graduation thereof to serve my country as an officer of the USAF. I don't know if I should be worried or not. Military types generally like brevity and conciseness, though, right?

Yeah I dunno. I made mine plain and clear. I figured they'd like a brief, concise statement and I can save the sentimentality for the ALO interview.

Do you think not having it in the "correct" format will hurt you? I would think as long as they have the info you would be fine.

Mrhazel,

My statement of desire was like 8 sentences or so, with the rest being a resume type format. I would think they would want a long statement because that shows that you really want to be there and not just some average Joe filling out an application.

Ugh you're probably right. Eh, maybe that's why some ALOs call candidates to get a real statement.

I had about six or seven sentences and my ALO just called me yesterday to set up an interview, so I don't really know if what you're thinking is true or not CW.

Coming from my experience, you definitely don't want to fluff up any part of a resume, particularly a statement of desire. But, you want to give the ALO or representative looking over your resume as much hard, convincing material as you can. If you can spend 3 paragraphs about why you want to go to the Academy and make it all interesting, original, and unsentimental, go for it. But don't fluff it up.

Exactly. They don't have time to read stuff from long-winded people like me. :) And as far as the resume, it may not help you for summer seminar, but for your actual application it would. Not sure about the whole SS statement of desire, but on my resume, my first heading was "OBJECTIVE" and I wrote under it "To obtain an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and to pursue a career as an Air Force officer."

usafa21astr,

I bet you get an invite to SS within the next few days. What were your stats?

Here, I'll post a copy of my resume that I sent in.

Statement of Desire
Those who would want to see my statement of desire, since there's been so much talk about what people's statement of desire looked like, can pm me if they want it.

Sorry for the double post had too many words in first post.

We just got semester grades and my GPA improved by .04 and my class rank improved by 2% to put me in the top 10%. Should I send a transcript to update my application? I also have a difficult schedule, so they would see that.
