I'm on Miami Beach, and while we're not getting the brunt of the storm, it's raining continously and it's very windy. Last night, when the rains started, my window was a creak open and water just blew in sideways. Anyways Im just wondering if anyone else is in the same position on cc.

if it goes east and hits atlanta then maybe we will. But I doubt that will happen...

My power went out for like 20 minutes this morning.

Im also in South Florida and woke up this morning at 5:00 because thunder set off like all the car alarms in the neighborhood.

Its also affecting me because I have family in the Caribbean and im afraid of what the hurricane is going to do to them on the small island.

Here on Florida's west coast, we're some squalls now and under tornado watch.

how does thunder set off car alarms?

the thunder was so loud that it shook all the cars

Very powerful squall line yesterday morning caused structural damage near tampa bay

I'm pretty sure that everyone has been affected in some way. Gas prices have gone up at least in my area (eastern NC) because of the threat of the hurricane to the oil supply from the Gulf.

This is unfortunately going to be a very devastating storm for areas already damaged by Ivan :(

Here in Port St. Lucie we had heavy rain/a little bit of wind. A lot of people lost their power, I was surprised that I didn't. In both Jeanne and Francis my part of town was the first to lose power and last to get it back.

The damage will be expensive to repair, but I am not complaining since the damage at my home is likely to be negligible compared to that which will occur at the point of landfall on gulf coast.

im in meridian mississippi lots of wind headin this way

Dennis is out of my way... goodbye rain, goodbye wind... hello sunny beaches and tropical paradise... sry for those of you who still have to deal with it

Today high winds from Dennis's squalls blew a TRUCK OFF THE HOWARD FRANKLIN BRIDGE (the bridge that basically connects st.pete to tampa)...Other nearby cities experienced possible tornado damage when pool screens and the structures holding them in completely ripped away from homes in nearby Manatee county...I'm out of state right now but these stories were posted on

Damage is isolated not widespread so thus Tampa Bay dodged the bullet of yet another hurricane (we dodged Ivan and Charley last year but got nailed hard by Frances and especially Jeanne)
