A lot of freshmen are put in ACES when they get admitted to the school. It is just a program for those students who either did not get into the program of their choice or do not yet know what to major in. There is a website for ACES, so go to it and check it out.

Hi,
I see you've heard from Uconn. Did your s get in? Did you get any $$$? I haven't been on cc in a long time.

I was accepted EA for UCONN as a commuter, but due to a change in my living arrangements I will need to now stay on campus. Have anybody ever heard of them allowing you to get housing once they have accepted you as a commuter?

What are my next steps? Is it too late to apply for housing? Will they revoke my acceptance because I now need housing???

i got into aces but it says i have to go to the stamford campus for 2 years, which im not gonna do,

It is not likely they will rescind your admissions. From what I've learned, colleges hate to rescind admissions. If you can't get on campus living arrangements, try to find an apartment.

still waiting, i know of someone that applied as a commuter, then about 2 weeks before school changed to living on campus, and they got housing.

bigndude, you were right I was able to change my status last week and they said they would send something in the mail regarding the changes. That's a big relief. Thanks!!

Ok I applied to UCONN in october and they received my application on halloween, and I thought that handing my stuff early would get me in and i would hear first, but i think i was wrong, lol. I'm still waiting on a response and early action applicants were suppose to hear in early february. I think I've harassed the admissions office enough and I don't want to annoy them and ruin my chances, so does anyone know what's going on? or what I could do to speed up this process, because I really want to know if I'm a husky, because its my dream lol.

Have you called or emailed them? An email inquiring whether they have all of your materials might be a good idea. It was my understanding that EA heard the first week in February. I know several students who heard at that time. Good luck.

JMinnow3--- I would definitely follow up!!! Many of my D's friends have heard already. Most of her friends applied at varying times the past few months. I was told that UCONN doesn't have an official EA. They look at applications in "batches". It also depends on what major you've selected or what school you are applying to.(School of Business???) My D applied late Nov. and was accepted two weeks later. Maybe her timing was right with the "batch" applications. If you really want to be accepted to UCONN, you must follow up.

Are there certain majors that are easier or harder to get accepted into? Do people try to be accepted into one major, hoping to switch later?

The School of Business is very competitve. I've heard that some students select any unpopular major to just get accepted than switch majors as soon as they can. It's a chance but if you feel you can't get in any other way, it's worth it. What major did you pick or are you undecided? You should also check that your application is complete. Even if one thing is left out, it could hurt your chances. Are you OOS?

Yes, my S is OOS but still a Junior. So just enquiring. But I was looking at our school report, and it is a tough well-respected school, and I saw that U.Conn denied everyone below a 3.8 gpa!!!!!! from our school last year.

I applied early December and got a reply early February. You could try asking your son's Guidance Counselor to call the school and inquire if you still haven't gotten a reply (I hope you have by now!).
