****. why are all the good scholarships only available to cas? thats so not fair.

Gah, I can't remember where I heard the $8,000/year figure. Could be a bad source I guess.

No, that $8,000 a year figure is what I read on the site way back when. You think this letter means anything acceptance wise?

i'm confused...i thought if you were a commended scholar, it was impossible to become a semifinalist/finalist
btw, i'm a NM finalist and i didn't get this letter. i also got the cas reception letter.

I'm pretty sure that if you got the scholarship letter than you got in. After all, why would they be looking at giving you a scholarship if they didn't accept you?

That's sort of what I thought, but people are saying every applicant got the letter. That doesn't sound correct to me.

i got that letter today. but im not a national merit anything and i didnt receive a reception invite thingy... anyway, i hope this means we're accepted.

Starry_Heights: The letters just got to most people today, so yours could potentially still be in the mail. Also, if you already sent your finalist status notification to NYU, they already know it and thus wouldn't need you to fax it to them, resulting in you not getting the letter.

These mailings for all of these schools are so random. Im not sure why they selectively send different things to different combinations of applicants. Maybe their goal is confusion?

I KNOW. It's driving me INSANE! I wish they would just tell us instead of sending these random letters like uneventful foreplay.

thanks for the reply hvdesai...yeah nyu is being very cryptic about this whole process...guess we'll know for sure in a few days

i'm in so. cal and i got this today! what the heck, the deadline is tomorrow. I guess the people in Hawaii and Alaska are screwed.

k so CAS applicants can assume that they got in if they received an invitation for the student reception?

SAD FACE. i just got that like national merit **** and im so confused. it says for the next yr freashmen class.

does that mean im part of it!? ***! =(

I got the letter too...and was never anywhere near geting a nm scholarship...i went up about 400 points on my real SAT....and i did not get any other invitations. I did just get an email from the chemistry department about their program. I called the admissions office today to ask if the nm was a mistake (since theres no way I could get it), and the lady kept on telling me it doesnt mean ur admitted/rejected even though I kept on asking why they would send it to applicants that were going to be rejected. She got a little annoyed eventually...so I dont really know if it means anything.

for people worried about the letter not coming, i got mine today in fl.

i never did the psat, but i hope ill get a scholarship. i imagine this letter, like the cas reception, means you have been accepted

Is the reply date really today? I haven't gotten one yet in TX, but I'm a NM finalist. :(

yeah it is today

ampersand- could just mean that they already know that you are a finalist

ampersand - what school did you apply to?
