UHall is new, spacious, and I like the idea of having multiple roommates (seems to make conflicts less likely to happen). Living right next to the gym and a Trader Joe's sounds awesome. Being right next to Union Square sounds pretty darn nice too.

Hayden, though, is right next to Washington Square and right in the heart of the Village. Being able to roll right out and go to classes sounds great, and Hayden apparently has a way better sense of community than all of the other freshman dorms.

I thought UHall is an upperclassmen dorm… So I’d go for Hayden! everything about Hayden just seems so perfect - nice rooms, good people/socializing, proximity to campus…

It all depends on what you value. UHall is more spacious, and has all the amenities of an upperclassman dorm (kitchen, living room, etc.), but Hayden has a prime location for class, and has an awesome sense of community. Hayden is known as the party dorm, and is predominately white.

If you’re looking to make some friends and have a fun time, go Hayden. Honestly, If I could do it over again, I would without a doubt choose Hayden.

Is UHall or Third North best? I want an apartment style room. I don’t mind having a tiny room, but a larger common area would be nice, so we could all watch TV or play video games or something and have some space to hang when we’re not sleeping. (As far as sleeping goes, I could sleep in a room as big as my bed, it doesn’t matter, because I’ll be sleeping)

lauren; I think they’re renovating Brittany only in the spring, so People who graduate in the Winter could live there in the fall, but it’s an Upperclassman dorm this fall.

And I don’t really think NYU has said… I’m kind of assuming UHall will go back to being an upperclassman dorm next year because it’s nicer than brittany, but who knows? It used to be a freshman dorm so we’ll see.

I’d really like to see UHall as a freshman dorm. I really want an apartment style dorm, so it’d increase my chances of getting one since 3rd North is the only freshmen apartment style dorm.

Quick question (not totally unrelated): Is housing at NYU on a first-come first-serve basis or is it just completely random? Because I’m about 90% sure I want to go to NYU and if committing a little earlier than I intended to gives me a larger chance of getting the dorm I want, I’m willing to do it.
