Nice job ham! Looks like we both got accepted on the same day. We also applied around the same time..

Are you guys attending for sure? If not, what's your top choice?

I got in today, 3.7 gpa, 27 act, out of state, wrote on 2 out of 3 of the essays. I think my first choice is UCSB or Cal Poly because they are a lot cheaper.

And your SAT? What essay did you write beyond the requried; hardship or diversity?

I did not submit my SAT scores because they were crap. I wrote about hardship. I also had A LOT of EC's.

Thank you.

I received my acceptance letter from UW last Thursday, the 23rd.

GPA: 3.75 unweighted
SAT: 710v, 650m
SAT IIs: 740 Writing, 660 US History, 670 Math Level IC
Essays: Combined the cultural differences optional essay topic with the required topic to form one lovely piece. Tis quite good, if you ask me. And whats great about it is it applies to essay prompts for some of the other colleges Im applying to, hehe.
ECs: Looong list of extracurriculars. You can check out my topic at the Wellesley boards to see them all, if you really want to.

I, too, at first saw UW as a safety school, but now Im starting to warm up to it. And Ive always loved the Seattle area, its so green, lush, and beautiful and I just love rainy weather more than anything. Also, its only about five or six hours away from my hometown, so Id be far away enough from the rents to live my own life, but not too far. Nice :)

When did you apply?

Actually, my organizational skills in keeping my college application deadlines in order were SEVERELY lacking at that point, so I actually didn't realize that the priority deadline for UW was December 1st until around 10:30pm on...well, December 1st. hehe

I actually slapped the entire thing together (modifying an essay I had used for another college to fit UW's question) and submitted it around 11:50pm that night -- 10 minutes before the deadline, hehh. You can call me your friendly neighborhood procrastinator extraordinaire, thank you. :D

Thank you. However, with your GPA and SAT it is not likely your essay was even read. The essay and other stuff generally only becomes relevant for those applicants who are in comprehensive review.

Does that mean I could have written an essay about, say, Orlando Bloom and still gotten in? Damn.

Oh well, essay must have been good enough anyway -- it got me into three other selective colleges. :)

What are the three schools? I also saw UW as a backup, but for other reasons...I'm out of state and the tution is significantly higher than the CSU's and UC's I applied to. Now that I got accepted, and from all the good things I've heard about it, I'm seriously considering it. However, I'll wait until I hear from all my schools in March to make my decision.

Titania, so you sent your app in on Dec 1 and you got your acceptance letter on the 23rd? Crap, I sent mine (online) on Dec 1 as well, but when I go to my myuw account, it says that my application is still waiting for a pre-liminary review!!! argh! Did you send in your transcript? Dude, I hope I didn't screw up somewhere. I always thought UW as a back up too, since I'm from WA, but now I am starting to warm up to the idea. What other schools did you apply to?

Rovee; would you mind giving your SAT/GPA? My d sent hers on 12/1 and is still "waiting for a pre-liminary review" as well.

lol there s pple who ve sent their app like in oct-early november and still havnt gotten a response...expect most 3.7+ 1200+ this month (like jan 20thish)

Edit: oops we re still december

Did those who got in learn that by signing onto the online system, or by letter, or by email? Thanks.

I sent in my application on Nov. 30th, but it says they recieved in on Dec. 2 at myweb.edu!
Anyhow, it's still waiting a preliminary review... eck

-___- I'm right on the borderline

Do you mind publishing your SAT/GPA?

Titania, are you from washington? or east coast?
